Car following distance graphic

The lines that designate the following distance from the car in front of you should go right to left. Not left to right. This way it’s visually showing you how many cars behind the front car you are. Just makes more sense

I think of it more as in how much space do you want to keep in front of you, then it makes sense as is.

Yeah could go either way I guess. I’m just like the idea of right to left.

On the number line, left is decrease, right is increase. Pressing left on the keypad decreases the following distance (fewer bars), and pressing right increases following distance (more bars).

This is consistent with what we expect from bar graphs, with the bars representing following distance. It would be strange for the bars to start from the right and go left, going in the opposite direction of your keypad presses.

Another way of looking at it: the car you are following is on the left and your car is at the end of the bars.

Maybe it would be better if the car on the right actually moved with every press as the line fills in.
