I've noticed that the car doesn't remember the balance / fader settings, and keeps defaulting to standard. Steps to reproduce:
  1. Set a custom sound fader arrangement. Since the 2.5 update (that birthed the screaming center speaker), I tried to move the stage a bit towards the rear, so my slider is 70% towards the rear of the car.

  2. Lock the car up, let it sleep, wake up the car and I can hear the sound coming from the windshield again, like in the default balance / fader setting. I'm like wtf, I'm in my forties and already got Alzheimer's?? I thought I set the stage towards the rear.

  3. Go check: settings -> sound -> balance. The moment I tap "Balance", my custom setup activates and the stage jumps to the rear of the car, where I last left it. All looks and sounds good again. So I don't have to look for an elderly care home. Yet.
It's like quantum mechanics: the moment I look at it, it changes. Must be the photons hitting it. If I don't look at it, it will continue to play in the default config, ignoring my settings. I don't know when this started, I noticed it because for the first time since I got the car, I set my fader differently from the default.

Now whenever I get in the car, I have to tap Balance, so it picks up my custom settings ...

I don’t have SSPro but I have noticed the same issue. I have noticed it before 2.5.0 as well. As soon as you touch balance on the menu as you described, it jumps back to the configured balance. Otherwise it ignores once the car slept since you reset it. Looks like bug that has been in existence for some time now.

Probably not many people mess with the fader and/or are listening Atmos, which disables the balance / fader.
