Brake screeching nonstop

I took my car to a local studio for an inspection, and they told me the noise I’m hearing is likely coming from the brake shims. They said it isn’t a safety issue and that I can wait until the end of January to have it fixed.

However, I’m a bit concerned because brakes are obviously a safety system. The sound happens while driving, both forward and in reverse, even when I’m not actively braking.

Can anyone here tell based on the video whether this issue could affect braking performance, or if it’s strictly a noise related problem?

as far as I know this by design makes this noise to tell you that the time has come to change your brakes pads. so, this is not a safety issue. it is more of maintenance issue. having them like that will eventually force you to replace your brake disc along with your brake pads

oh forgot to mention they checked my brake pads and said those were fine.

brake shims are for vibration and squeaking, the pin is a wear indicator.

It could also be something stuck in there. Mine screened like a banshee one day every time I moved. When I reversed the pebble must have fallen out. You could try pressure washing the brake area or a car wash with undercarriage.
