I'm still constantly checking with the local Enterprise - there's 3 'exotics' locations within an hour of me, but they never seem to have anything available that's remotely 'luxury' or premium that isn't a giant, loud, inefficient boat of an SUV, or a little 2-door sports coupe that I barely fit in (or a corvette). I'm just trying to find a reasonably nice sedan but I guess that's just asking too much. I'm really quite unhappy with Enterprise at the moment. It's not like I live in some podunk nowhere with no options, this is the 4th largest metro area in the country.
I tried to get the Houston SC to give me the ok for them to reimburse me for renting an EV from Avis/Budget but so far they've said no. It's a shame because the Volvo C40 is actually pretty nice, or even the MachE wasn't too bad, and it would actually save them a ton of money anyway given I can rent a C40 for $350-400/week vs the $1000+ they're paying enterprise even with their corporate discount. The Lucids they usually arrange for customers in the Houston area go for $1700/week!
Honestly, the time in service doesn't bother me in the slightest. I know they are busy and doing the best they can, and I know the Dallas SC is right aound the corner, so obviously the company is at least starting to make good on the promise of service improvements.
It's only the frustration of being stuck with a 'crappy' (See note below) rental during that time, even though it's more expensive for Lucid (who is already hemorrhaging money) that I'm unhappy about.
-------
Note: Look, I know it's very much a 1st world problem that I'm 'stuck' with a BMW 240i Convertible or an E-Class Mercedes SUV
- but I leased a Lucid Air specifically because:
- It's an EV and highly efficient, not to mention cheap as hell and super convenient to charge at home
- On the Highway it drives as smooth as the nicest luxury sedan
- It's as comfortable and roomy as the nicest luxury sedan
- It takes off and corners like a sports car
- Has cargo capacity within spitting distance of an SUV
- Was billed as having Lucid loaners available when mobile service was insufficient to any work that needed to be done by the service center 300 miles away.
-------
So given Lucid's (perhaps not legally binding but certainly strongly suggested) claims of actual Lucid loaners being available at the time I leased the car, I don't think it's too much to ask that the fall-back rental at least be vaguely in the same hemisphere of the premium experience I bought the car for, instead of a boat of an SUV that practically makes me seasick driving it (soft suspension plus high ride height - SWAY!) or a tiny sports coupe that I barely fit in, let alone my kiddo's color guard flag.
