I'm thinking of getting a home charger installed and want to make sure I make the best decision. I have an Air Dream Edition, which I know uses a J1772 port for AC charging, but I'd rather get a NACS home charger for future-proofing and potentially a better resale value for my home. The main circuit breaker to my home is 200A and I really doubt I use even 50A with all my appliances turned on, plus I have plenty of space in my circuit panel, so I'm fairly confident installing a 100A circuit for the charger will be relatively straightforward.
Will constantly using a NACS-to-J1772 adapter for charging produce any ill effects? Will I see a noticeable decrease in efficiency or risk of any connection problems using this setup? Will an NACS charger reduce the output or anything if it it "senses" the decreased conductivity from using an adapter? Will V2H capabilities be impeded by using an adapter?
I would like to get a Lucid-branded charger, even if it'll cost more to install than other chargers, mostly to help support the brand, which I hope succeeds. And secondarily for V2H to be rolled out, but I'm not holding by breath to happen any time soon. But if the brand ceases operation in a few years (this is my biggest fear about owning a Lucid and I sincerely hope this doesn't happen), will the charger become unable to charge EVs released in the future? Will I save significantly more on install if I go with another brand? If and when V2H is rolled out for the Air, will it be available on third-party chargers or will I need a Lucid charger to make it work?
Thanks for any input and I understand a lot of my concerns involve speculation about V2H, which nobody knows for sure how will work with the Air.
