Hey gents,
I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how to configure my Surreal Surround (Standard) system with an aftermarket amplifier/DSP like the Helix v12 and speakers like Morel Elates. Having looked at the speaker set-up in the standard, it “appears” that 6 channels are being used to power the speakers:
1.) Right rear door midrange & tweeter (capacitor)
2.) Right front midrange & tweeter (cap)
3.) Left rear door midrange & tweeter (cap)
4.) Left front midrange & tweeter (cap)
5.) Front center midrange and 1 channel 8” subwoofer
6.) Front center tweeter and 1 channel 8” subwoofer

If my “assumptions” are correct, each channel is being run with some type of capacitor. How do you run these channels actively independent. Sounds like individual speaker wires will need to be run to the front or rear where you would like to control each channel.
Thoughts on how many channels will be needed with controlling the front stage actively?

Your assumption is close, but the stock system is mostly passive at the speaker level with caps splitting signals. If you want full active control with the Helix, you’ll need separate runs for each driver, so front stage alone is typically 6 channels.

Your assumption is mostly right, but to run the front stage fully active you’ll need separate channels for each driver, so at least 6 to 8 channels just for front left right and center. That usually means bypassing the factory caps and running new speaker wires from the DSP amp to each driver.

I've really liked getting into the amplifier conversations on this topic. The deep insights into sound quality and system integration are priceless! I recently upgraded my own system, and the right amplifier made a significant difference in clarity.

Could you elaborate on what you did to your system? Did the stock speakers come to life?
