Unlike 'Adaptive Cruise' with no self-driving activated, DDP's 'Drive Assist' mode will tell you to 'Pay Attention' if the dash camera senses that you are looking away. This is true whether you are in 'Hands On' mode or 'Hands Free' mode. It would make sense to me for the 'Pay Attention' bar to be set just about equally high for either mode, but it seems like that is not the case. When I have Drive Assist set to 'Hands On' mode, I only get prompts when I would expect to, such as if I look away to change music. Otherwise, the car merrily drives itself along. However, if I toggle to 'Hands Free' mode, I get constant/incessant 'Pay Attention' and 'Take Control' notices until I give up and toggle it back off.
I used to think that I had my seat and/or steering wheel positioned improperly, but since it's the same camera used in both situations, that should not be the problem. Neither should DDP need to be recalibrated if everything works just fine in 'Hands On' mode. Nor, at least in my mind, is there any sound reason why the 'Pay Attention' bar should be set so much higher in 'Hands Free' mode.... or at least not so dramatically different that it goes from practically no notices to constant notices.
I'm wondering... Have many of you noticed whether the Drive Assist mode you are in greatly increases or decreases your eye-monitoring sensitivity?
