2026 Tesla Model Y - Jay Leno

Has anyone had the recent Jay Leno's garage (highlighting 2026 Model Y) show up on their YouTube feed ? I watched the first 5 minutes of it and couldn't believe how much the 2026 model Y front end looks like the Air ! I suppose Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery ? ? I'm not surprised, from the standpoint of optimizing Cd and aerodynamics, but the light bar, the vertical slots on each corner give it a very Air-like appearance. My two comments are:

• Surprised Elon allowed the design to be such a blatant copy of his (non?) competition. Maybe just to tick off Peter and the Lucid team ? ?
• Not surprised, but really disappointed that Mr. Leno didn't call out the "design similarities" to the Air. I know he (and most other classic car collectors) criticize modern cars for "all looking the same" - which Tesla, in this case, has perpetuated. Conversely, I would say that Lucid did a fine job of differentiating it's design from other cars in the market (EV and ICE) when it launched the Air sedan.

Curious if anyone else feels the same ?

Apologies if Leno commented on the design similarities to Lucid in parts of the episode I didn't watch.

To me it doesn't exactly look like Tesla copied Lucid, it looks like the Chinese EVs copied some elements from Lucid and then Tesla really copied the Chinese.

The new Y reminds me of a chiseled front of a Hyundai Kona.

The light bar itself is not even a headlight, but just for cosmetics. The real headlights are in the bumper, so tbh, i think that's a lame design and kind of telling me that Tesla is running out of ideas for innovation.

I like their rear indirect light. Not only does it have a soft glow, it also projects a rear glow on the pavement below. Due to it’s indirect nature, needing to bounce of the rear body panel, it may get obstructed if the reflecting surface gets dirty.

Not that much difference from the previous model why just some upgrades and the light bar front.
They’ll sell millions of the new Y
Just like the previous Y it will be one of the best selling cars in the world
