I have my phone connected by Bluetooth. I actually think it is just accessing my Apple Music that is online since I subscribe to Apple Music. I can also listen to my Audible books on tape. Definitely not as good as CarPlay but at least I can listen to some things from phone.

Yes, I just say "Alexa play my Apple Music" it has been working for me
