Road Trip: The Good, the Bad, and the . . . ugh

No comaparison in terms of interior space, not to mention trunk/frunk space. And I've driven BMW 5 series ICEs for 20+ years. Yeah, it's a driving machine, and after looking at and test driving their EV offerings, I came away supremely unimpressed. I had hoped BMW would be the perfect...

Time for something fun: a car memory test

1966 Rambler American (used, bought by Dad for $600) 1968 Plymouth Valiant (used, bought by Dad after I wrecked the Rambler; thanks, Dad) 1974 Datsun 260Z ($6,300 new, to celebrate my first job after college; sold 3 years later, used $4,000 proceeds as part of the $7,000 down payment on my first...

    LCID just went below $8

Hope your new car arrives soon, and that it consistently exceeds your expectations on the road. Good luck.

    LCID just went below $8

Borski, You and other moderators are a doing a great job on this forum. Clearly, you are advocates for the car, and lean heavily into its positive aspects. But you're also open to dialogue, even dissent, if warranted. I believe most people who have concerns--myself among them--air those...

    Used owner's problems?

Sorry, Volund. Very disappointing to read, given how new the car is. Perhaps it's a slippery slope in Lucid's view. If we take care of this secondary owner, where do we draw the line for secondary-owner cars that are slightly older than yours? Maybe they're creating a disincentive for others...

Yes. Yes, it is. But just once. Good laugh.

    My 1-month, 2000 mile report

Thank you for such a detailed review. Felt like I had made the trip with you. Glad all went well in the end.

    Brick or Turtle Incidence

Short Hills, NJ is pretty good with scheduling test drives. I've done two of them in the past six months. It's a little bit of a haul to get there from Long Island, but if you're really having trouble scheduling a test drive, might be worth the trip.

    Brick or Turtle Incidence

Heh! Given to me by a (younger) golf buddy. As Clint Eastwood said, when asked on the eve of his 88th birthday how he stays so young and active, "I don't let the old man in." Carpe diem, folks!

    Brick or Turtle Incidence

It depends. I'm guessing I'm as old as you, Lucken, but my right hand has pretty much taken on the shape of my wireless mouse. I don't have my car yet, so I didn't come to this forum to attempting to confirm problems. Just came looking for general information, know how, experiences, learnings...

    Brick or Turtle Incidence

Wow. Interesting. I know it's a non-scientific poll, but 40% of the 89 respondents (so far) are 60+, and 20% (including me) are 70+. So much for tech-shy old folks.

I had a general question question for all current Lucid air owners

Bill55, with all the driving you've done across many states, how are you managing charging on your road trips? Has EA been okay, or a problem for you? And if it's the latter, how have you overcome that? Thanks!

    Agreed. That is the problem.

    Brick or Turtle Incidence

Don't know about any industry standard, bydbob. Fair question. In my view, if you have a real or perceived issue, as Lucid seems to have, it's best that you, and not a nefarious other, controls the narrative around it.

    Brick or Turtle Incidence

Fair question. I guess I come from the pharmaceutical industry, where companies are required to present what they refer to as "fair balance" when talking about a drug. In other words, this drug has a serious side effect incidence of X%, and the most serious of them are these. And yes, the...

    Future direction of the forum

Have to agree. Most people on this forum, myself included, either love this car or want to love it. My sense is that the trolls are a small in number and impact. Still, I like the idea of requiring verification of current or pending ownership. The forum's moderators are, in my view, really...
