Air vs i5 - New AT owner

The Lucid Air is superior to all other EV’s on paper. Range. Interior room. Ease of use. It falls down for me on three points: 1. Noise. Most luxury EV’s are much quieter in terms of road noise, wind noise, and motor whine. 2. Interior materials. While far superior to the spartan minimalist...

10,000 mile review - the good and the not-so-good, but nothing ugly

My Touring almost always starts at 215-220kw at EA but after 35% SoC it begins to decline to about 100kw. I average about 110-115kw for a charge session going from 20% to 80%. The software seems to be way too conservative. Maybe battery tech is that fragile? The Lucid Air thankfully has...

    Range Questions after first trip

It actually much easier than that. 60-70F ambient temp with no HVAC. Flat geography. Always use ACC and never accelerate manually. Keep speed to 72-74 mph. I did 4.5.

    Range Questions after first trip

No. Not true at all my friend at least over the past 10-15 years with tweaks to the EPA protocols. Many ICE cars exceed EPA highway numbers by 10-15%.

Road Noise and Glass canopy heat transmission concerns

Great feedback. I have experienced annoying glare on the center dash brushed metal touch buttons from the sun through the glass roof. Too bad. It is beautiful in many ways but impractical. I wish for a more typical glass sunroof with a sliding panel.

    End of Lease Experience

    Yes. Agreed.

What is a reasonable winter range expectation for my new Touring?

A “one-size-fits-all” winter range number is not very useful. People here experience such a wide range of efficiencies due to geography, tires, and driving style, plus fast-charging SoC preferences, in addition to weather, the only relevant way to answer the question is with a percentage decline...

Road Noise and Glass canopy heat transmission concerns

The Lucid Air is not particularly quiet. Road noise, wind noise, and motor noise are all louder than it should be. Not a deal breaker with 19’s. I would stay away from the gorgeous glass canopy roof in hot climates. It was concerning during our trip to Florida. SS Pro is fabulous...

Lucid Air vs Audi etron Q4/Q6

I am shopping for a smaller around town EV and I am considering an Audi Q4 etron Sportback. After a few test drives of various etron models, some conclusions: 1. Ride. The Audi etrons ride smoother than the Lucid Air. Less impact hardness. Noticeable. 2. Noise. The biggest difference. The Audi...

What is a reasonable winter range expectation for my new Touring?

At or below 30F with typical winter wind etc. I have experienced winter efficiency of approx 75% of summer efficiency. For me that is about 3mi/kwh compared to 4mi/kwh.

    EA Megathread

EA by me is $.589/kwh. At about 3.5mi/kwh, that is approx $0.168 energy cost per mile. Compared to an ICE vehicle of 30 mpg @ $3.50/ gal that is approx $0.12 cost per mile. So the EV is substantially higher energy cost for highway trips.

    End of Lease Experience

With traditional vehicle brands that operate through a dealer retail channel there is some flexibility engineered in regarding the wholesale price for a dealer to purchase a vehicle off lease to remarket it and the market clearing retail price. Captive finance companies can also offer incentives...

    Lucid air vs my m5

This thread has gotten kind of silly. Of course an M5 will have a very different driving experience than a luxury cruising sedan. An EV gives huge sporting benefits like fully linear torque delivery, and lots of it. But the Lucid Air is a large vehicle not a sports car. One of the best road trip...

    Pure rebrand

Interesting. Coming from several/many BMW’s with 3,500-4,000 lbs. and BMWCCA track racing experience, the Air Touring is heavy indeed but faster in all respects than any BMW other than track circuit racing timing.

What is a reasonable winter range expectation for my new Touring?

19’s. Of course aero covers. Use ACC. Be smart about driving style, can easily lose 30% efficiency by how you druve.

What is a reasonable winter range expectation for my new Touring?

Of course start your trip at 100% but fast charging along the way is practical only to 80-85%. I get 4.2 in summer driving 74 mph, temps over 95F it drops to 3.9. In winter I get 3-3.3 depending on the temp. Efficiency really suffers below 20-25F.

How much reserve charge does Lucid hold back?

If you do the software system check as described in the forum, I get an actual capacity of 88.9kwh. You can check yours just follow the link. There is a ton of information in the forum just search for it.

    Pothole 1 - Lucid Air 0

In my not so humble opinion, it is insane to put a 5,000+ pound vehicle on low profile tires ( <45 ) that were originally designed for 2,000-2,5000 pound sports cars. The design aesthetic of today cannot contravene the laws of physics. Most tires have been 60 profile not 35 profile tires. Even...
