The car asking fo code did happen occasionally but not after the recent app update. Sometimes deleting and adding phone as mobile key helps but usually the next self reset of the car when you walk away resolves the issue of asking for the pin.

This morning after pushing the handle 5 times, I used the app to unlock. Later 1 press was enough. The widget updates every 15 min. Perhaps, when the door handle is pressed just after the 15 min refresh, the car unlocks faster because it was kind of awake.
