    NACS Charging at Tesla SCs

The only charging accessory I'm really interested in is a short Tesla SC extension cable. I'd use it when I have my rear bike rack on the hitch and thus can't back up close enough to the chargers. There was supposed to be one, made for cars with their charge port in the wrong place, but it...

Anyone know of bidirectional charging status?

I'm no expert. Here's what I know/think/guess: Tesla offers V2L on some new Model Ys (Performance only?) with its mobile chargers now, but only to 110 volts IIRC. Gravity with the Power or Technology package has three 15amp, 110 volt outlets in the vehicle. IIRC, you can pull 1800 watts from...

    toll tags/rfid on the Gravity

Great post. I'll add that if you use Fastrak and even occassionally take passengers, get a unit that has selectable number of occupants so you can qualify for cheaper/free rates on some roads. The license plate registration is a decent fallback, but won't automatically get you the HOV discount.

    Left touchpad-Mobile Repair or SC?

As a check, see if you can swipe left to right to change the left-hand side of the Instrument Cluster (you might have to enable that in settings first, though). The DreamDrive software is notoriously bad at responding to inputs, which can appear as a hardware issue.

Motortrend | Lucid Gravity vs. Cadillac and Volvo for EV SUV Supremacy: Only One Is Truly Ready for Prime Time

I also think that with the Cadillac Vistiq and Volvo EX90 both having the same starting price ($80k) as the Gravity Touring, it's time to stop referring to the Gravity a "pricey" or "expensive." It's right there in the market and considering what you get for the money, it's the better buy for...

Proximity lock not working if you have a slow wife

Ok, I tried it this morning, and both unlock and then trunk open worked in reasonable time. Maybe it was the app, maybe the car had gotten into a deeper sleep. But, for now it looks to be good.

Proximity lock not working if you have a slow wife

Actually, I'd suspect the car doesn't fully go to sleep in that case.

    "Lucid Ramping up Deliveries"

That's true, but 90K/year still isn't that many and even spread over 5 years that's still over $2200/vehicle - not including any running costs. Tesla's in 2018 was 245k, and in 2019 it was 367k. Lucid has plans to expand the Arizona plant from the 90k/year capacity to 400k/years. Just as the...

Proximity lock not working if you have a slow wife

App, both car & phone had both WiFi and cellular. App did not give any errors, car just refused to respond. I’ll try new app tomorrow, but that shouldn’t be the problem

Proximity lock not working if you have a slow wife

It's not that wives are slow, it's that Gravity's rear trunk closing is slow AND that the car won't lock when the last door is closed. All doors have to be closed when you lock the car either manaully or by walking away with the fob. And today, I could not unlock nor open the trunk of my locked...

Problem charging with J1772 charger and Lucid adapter

OK, In this video, he talks about one company making such a thing (which he doesn't recommend), and also how he's heard people cutting away plastic to make the regular J1772 adapters fit (which he also does't recommend) I do have to admit that I still get myself confused over which way...

Motortrend | Lucid Gravity vs. Cadillac and Volvo for EV SUV Supremacy: Only One Is Truly Ready for Prime Time

It would be nice to see a more in-depth comparison of the Vistiq to the Gravity. Especially now that the Gravity Touring is available for $80k. Doug DeMuro just released a Vistiq review: "pretty compelling" is says at the beginning. He does mention the Gravity as competition, but doesn't...

Problem charging with J1772 charger and Lucid adapter

Did I miss something, or was Tom only explaining why a combined J1772/CCS1 to NACS adapter was a bad idea, and not why a NACS to combined J1772/CCS1 was also a bad idea?

    "Lucid Ramping up Deliveries"

We can argue about FSD safety all day. I know from my usage that it's safe and that it made me a safer driver - for instance, seeing pedestrians about to cross the road from behind parked vehicles well before I did. You're right that as the driver you still need to pay attention - it's not yet...

    "Lucid Ramping up Deliveries"

Actually, Tesla is already in step 1 of the CPUC's robotaxi approval process: 1) AV Testing Permit with Driver (no paid fares) 2) Driverless AV Testing Permit (no paid fares) 3) Driverless AV Deployment Permit (paid fares allowed) Tesla got approval for 1) in September. Lucid/Nuro/Ubert...

    "Lucid Ramping up Deliveries"

"Redundancy" is actually not specified in SAE J3016, even for Level 4. What is specified is that the vehicle performs a "DDT Fallback" to achieve a "minimal risk condition" in the event of any failure in the ADS (Automated Driving System): The SAE spec includes an example: So, for instance, if...

Problem charging with J1772 charger and Lucid adapter

OK, fair enough. It's nice that Gravity comes with both adapters you're likely to need (not the Ford charger compatible one). And if you are shopping for adapters, the pretty much standard naming convention is from the plug (cord) side of things, for instance: "NACS to xxx" is for Lucid Air...

    "Lucid Ramping up Deliveries"

If you haven't tried it since Dec 1, 2025, you don't know what it's truly capable of. I actually just lost a bet. I bet a friend, this was about a year ago that FSD would not be able to drive between our houses both ways by August 2026. We don't live far apart, but I live in the Santa Cruz...
