Having listened to both I’m firmly pro SS Pro. The base system does not sound like a luxury car. Atmos makes sense in a quiet living room but I don’t understand the point in a car when you are sitting really close to all the speakers. Also, last time I tried the Tidal app in the Air infotainment...
Lucid eventually gets there, but given past performance can be expected not to meet its stated deadlines for stuff like this. I don't really care about new features in UX 3, I just want the remaining gremlins gone (looking at you, crashy Spotify).
Yeah, pretty much UX 2 just needs bug fixes; the end user experience is not too bad for a car. I'm guessing they paid back a lot of technical debt with UX 3 and no longer want to maintain UX 2, so they'll EOL it soon after UX 3 is introduced.
I suppose this is why they predict fall 2026 to give them time to squash bugs. I can't imagine they don't have it running on Air CCCv2 internally already.
I was very much NOT expecting UX 3.0 on Air to ever happen, and will gladly eat crow when my car is running it. Glad I got the CCCv2 upgrade then.
Will give more of a reason for current owners to hang onto their Airs and help prop up used prices.
I pointed this out to a Lucid executive at an owner event when I sat in a Gravity. He confirmed he could hear it too, and I hope he brought it up to the right people. But have not heard of a definitive fix. This stopgap solution does make a noticeable difference for me in my Air.
As I understand from a relative who previously worked in the area, car infotainment hardware is normally obsolete by consumer electronics standards by the time it is first sold to customers, due to the length of the design process and rough conditions the hardware has to survive for much longer...
Have had Spotify crash once or twice, and remote frunk opening via app taking a few attempts to actually work - even though I was standing there, carrying boxes, looking at my unlocked car, with the car indicated as awake in the app.
Well...Lucid has shown they can build an excellently driving car with spacious and comfortable interior design. In all probability midsize will do that too. What they have not shown is rock solid software, and that can't be assessed in a preview. I hope they figure this out by then. I would like...
Yeah, I'm genuinely worried now. The Air has been out since late 2021 and they still have not squashed a host of glitches in the car's software, and in recent months feels like I've seen significantly more glitches. I don't doubt car software is really difficult and the hardware platform is...
Software glitches notwithstanding I don't see how Air isn't the best car for those criteria. Frankly if Air were not an possibility I'd still be in an ICE car of which there are various excellent options.
No regression in hands-free Drive Assist here. However it seems like general glitchiness has gotten worse over the past few updates, with audio bugs, Spotify crashes, and cameras not working. Of course, these are just my non generalizable anecdotes.
They've implemented all the features I care about already. Sure, repurposing the built in cameras as dash cams would be nice but I'm not heartbroken it's not here yet. The car is much better than when I took delivery.
Now all I want is for the cameras to stop crashing, Spotify to stop crashing...
Well, first issue: Spotify crashed, as it has been doing intermittently for a while on prior firmwares. When it does this, it disappears even from the application settings menu.
Updated this morning. Got in the car, and the infotainment spontaneously rebooted after a couple of minutes as I found my destination on the Lucid navigation. After that, Spotify would not connect and surround view didn’t display (although I could see a glimpse of the correct view when switching...
Yeah, I adjusted my seat height and steering wheel position to mitigate as much as possible. In the end I just made peace with this obvious design deficiency. Thankfully there aren't many of these in an otherwise great car (IMHO).
