    Level 2 Charging Stats

I’m interested in actual data about Level 2 charging losses. Energy delivered from the outlet versus energy delivered into the battery. There should be some precise stats available on this. I’m interested in the 92KWH battery. I read general estimates but I’m interested in actual data.

CarPlay & Music Fade during turn-by-turn directions

Turn Nav audio off. Even if Nav audio volume is at zero the turn by turn directions will still cut into the entertainment audio feed. There is a small icon to turn Nav audio off. I do it every time there is a OTA update.

    2025 Taycan range and charging

I agree. My point is the charging curve is just software. It could be a user adjustable parameter. Not a reason to buy another vehicle that is inferior in every other aspect. I hope Lucid adjusts the power charging curve. For me 10-15 minutes per charge does not matter. It will not lengthen...

    Regenerative braking

Lucid regen has quirks in the software which results in unpredictable regen braking force from time to time. This has been clearly observed by many users. It needs to be fixed before thud becomes a safety bulletin or recall issue.

    2025 Taycan range and charging

Charge speed is really driven by software designed to manage long term battery health. Of course besides electrical architecture. I think Lucid has been overly cautious ramping down the charging power curve in the 40-70% SOC zone. Below that Lucid rocks. Above that caution is deserved...

    2025 Taycan range and charging

I think it is untrue to say Lucid motors are only efficient in such a narrow range. It is unfair if not ridiculous to say Lucid vehicles are weak in regards to efficiency. I get 4.2-4.5 on road trips driving 74mph. I get higher than that in city driving. Besides terrain and temperature...

    BMW i5

I agree Steve. Same with me. I’ve owned BMW’s for 35 years. Raced in many BMW CCA events. I’m embarrassed by the brand today.

    Non-EV Tires OK??

Well said. All very true but there are many low rolling resistance tires available not just for EV’s. They have less friction hence less grip and usually less noise.

I made a video about range.

I drive for safety and in a personal style I am comfortable with. I no longer race with BMW CCA. I am older and have slower reflexes. Hence I drive more conservatively than most of you. It happens to generate great efficiency. I would get 42 mpg in my BMW 530ix. Way above EPA. That is equivalent...

I made a video about range.

Many EV’s show graphically the reasons and causes for actual efficiency. I love these analytics. Even the lowly Bolt has very nice efficiency analytics. Polestar too. Lucid should add this.

    EA is Improving

Without a doubt. I want to do solar panels but I can’t get the economics to work.

    Non-EV Tires OK??

The key is the load rating. That is most important. EV tires have foam inserted inside. I used 2 non EV Pirelli Zero tires for a few weeks after a flat before my local Lucid service center replaced them with OEM Pirellis. I noticed some but minimal difference in noise. The greatest noise...

    EA is Improving

Wow. I’m speechless. My condolences. I charge on a TOU rate of $.073/kWh. Regular rate is $.173/kWh.

    EA is Improving

Very small. Maybe it consumed 1-2 kWh.

I made a video about range.

I will watch. IMO, efficiency is mostly about driving technique and acceleration. Plus external factors such as topography and temp. I get 4.2 driving 74 mph on road trips with my technique. Flat topography, 60+F.

    EA is Improving

Most EV’s have a battery around 70-80 KWH. Charging from 20% to 80% is about 40-50kWH for a charging session. That is about $20-25 for about 175-200 miles of range. That is about equivalent to gasoline at $3/gal. Fortunately, most EV owners charge at home for a small fraction of that cost.

    EA is Improving

The vehicle preconditions 45 minutes before a charging stop automatically.

    EA is Improving

I have been having good results at a newer EA location in Michigan City, IN. Pulling 245 KW from my Touring starting at 18% SOC. Added 40 kWH in 14 minutes. That’s 170 KW average. All of this at 15F temp. 45 min preconditioning. Not bad.

Road Tripping on EVs and Gas-based Cars, A Perspective.

Great report. I travel frequently Milwaukee to Detroit. 420 miles. Flat terrain. In summer I charge once. 4.2 mi/kWh driving 74mph and (very importantly) using ACC entirely to negotiate traffic. In winter I charge twice achieving 2.8 mi/kWh. I stop every 3 hours to use the restroom in any...
