That's just…not how product development works. You ship your hardware because you need to exercise all aspects of your product, from design to manufacturing to sales and support. You ship it because there are a lot more users who put it in various conditions that no amount of internal testers...

So I ordered end of June and switched to DE early July, and was told that I was batched for some time in early October (so expect ~4–6 weeks for delivery from then). I'm taking an orphaned DE, though, so hopefully that car becomes available for someone else then.
