Yes it only remembers the state during the drive. Exit the car and you will need to flick it up again.

Yes if you are below a certain speed you can activate the parking cameras by pressing the icon at the bottom right of the pilot panel.

You can press park to enable the cameras if you like. It might help. Also you have the camera on the main screen when you turn unless you don't have that option? I love the cameras.

I think each person should asses their comfort level of a patch as it is discouraged by the manufacturer. Nothing wrong with having them patched if you are comfortable with it. I personally prefer to err on the side of caution at 105 mph.

If your door handle isn't presenting you should contact service to have it replaced. That is a mechanical failure. The credit card trick is what I used until they could replace the handle which resolved the issue. Not sure why the safety release wouldn't work so you should discuss that with...
