    RESOLVED Is motor whine normal?

First I liked it. Now I find it annoying.

Chevy Bolt Efficiency Compared to Lucid

Cd is coefficient of drag. It is a measure between 0-1 of how efficient the object is moving through the air. 0 is perfect zero drag, 1 is the worst which would be essentially a flat surface. I think a geometric example of the lowest possible Cd is a sphere. I think Cd is multiplied by surface...

    OTA update 2.1.42

Got it. Worth some experimentation especially for shorter trips. It seems even leaving home nice and toasty within 30 minutes the car will be frigid unless the battery management system intervenes.

How many states has your Lucid been to?

WI, IL, IN, MI, KY, TN, GA, FL. Just 8 states. 9,000 miles since March 2023 delivery. Every mile has been enjoyable. Generally very good EA charging experiences except one location in Tennessee depowered to about 80KW.

Yes. How should I use preconditioning to help efficiency?

    OTA update 2.1.42

There are several posts about cold weather efficiency popping up on various threads here. Great topic. Maybe we can consolidate into one thread as we accumulate more experiences heading into winter. I have experienced a 25% decline in efficiency at 25F versus 70F (3.2 vs 4.2) flat terrain.

Time to put some specs into perspective

Looking again at the competitor list, it seems like the Volvo EX90 is the closest competitor to Gravity on paper, and it has some attractive interior style. I would also add Cadillac Lyriq to the list with similar exterior dimensions. Many of these vehicles appear to have starting prices at $80k...

    Gravity Launch

Demand could be higher than you think. SUV’s represent 50% of the US automotive market and growing, so that’s about 9 million SUVs annually. The SUV/pickup segment is where all of the excitement and investment has been in the past 20 years. $80k is not that high of a price point for SUVs. Even...

Time to put some specs into perspective

Ungainly measurements. Like a German style city delivery truck.

Everything works for me with .42. Finally. Yeah. I’m very satisfied.

    Gravity Specs

All great points. I always thought the GLS has a very nice, spacious interior but never owned one. Can’t wait to see the Gravity in person. Also now that I see Gravity, I can’t wait for Son-of-Gravity, the midsize/compact entry in a couple years. The worst for space utilization is the Escalade...

Time to put some specs into perspective

Thank you for compiling this. Very helpful! There are two segments here, 1.) Lucid and 2.) everyone else.

Time to put some specs into perspective

I do 4.2+ in the real world in my Lucid Air Touring. Just moderate your driving style. This is true of all EV’s.

    Road Trip Efficiency

Fantastic. Sounds adventurous! In MM, WI, MI, it can be -20F or +40F any given day in Jan/Feb.

    OTA update 2.1.42

When I’m pulling out of a parking lot at 10-12 mph is the exact time when I need to look at my nav to know which to turn. Seeing the cameras is useless at that speed.

    Road Trip Efficiency

Thank you. Encouraging. I’m still worried about sub 10F conditions.

    OTA update 2.1.42

Those numbers sound about right. I have done extensive regen tests myself but only at approx 50mph. Does makes sense there is much higher energy to deal with at higher speeds. I rarely brake when driving at highway speeds.

    Gravity Specs

The Aviator is nice. I guess I was expecting a Mercedes GLS size vehicle which is the next notch larger in length, width, wheelbase. I was also expecting GLS pricing. The Gravity is more compact but could be in the bullseye of the highest volume segment.
