Mileage experience after 5k miles on GT

It depends on how you drive and where. Summer in the flat Midwest it is easy to get over 4mi/kWh on a road trip.

No fast chargers near you to my knowledge. The are some chargers near the airport. We like to golf at TPC Tampa just north of you when we are in town visiting my son. One of the best EA fast chargers I have experienced was at the Simon Tyrone mall in St. Pete but that’s not helpful for you. Good...

Fob battery dead after only 4 months

I replace my fob battery every 6 months whether it needs it or not. That cadence works for me. My second key I keep in a faraday pouch so it lasts but I’ve decided to replace that one annually.

Planning trip in new Air GT, LA to OH - 2500 miles!

All good advice. I agree about 19”, ABRP, PlugShare, and EA apps. It’s really not that complicated. I drive about 75-76 mph which is most relaxing for me, use ACC, and it greatly helps with efficiency. I tend to drive only 200-250 miles and stop to stretch and pee, that’s usually 3-3.5 hours...

"Top Gear" lays it all out . . .

Insightful article from an insightful CEO. I agree about the opportunities a clean-sheet, fully optimized design delivers. Most legacy carmakers will not fully compete in EV’s until their current executives retire.

Hi regen increases efficiency substantially in city driving.

    New Owner in Tampa FL

Welcome. Just spent a week in Tampa where my oldest son lives, he goes to UT. We visit 2-3x per year. Been doing road trips from Wisconsin taking advantage of free EA charging. Enjoy your vehicle.

Impressions of my first long road trip

The difference between 3.9 and 4.5 can be several factors, seemingly minor, but important to efficiency at any moment: Speed, vehicle weight, ambient temperature, wind - direction and speed, traffic conditions, elevations changes, rain, payment conditions, etc.

Impressions of my first long road trip

1 year anniversary March 17. 13,000 miles. I don’t know the lifetime m/kWh. That is quite frankly irrelevant. When I want to have fun, efficiency is not the focus. When I drive Milwaukee to Detroit, 400+ miles, it is.

Impressions of my first long road trip

I can easily achieve 4.5 in my Touring on highway trips driving 74mph but never accelerating, submitting to ACC. I can get 5.0 around town when regen is working. Regen has not been working fully the past 3 months, but that’s another topic. The EPA test cycle is legit for what it is. Look, if...

    Drive Comparison, GT, Touring, Pure??!

I own a Touring purchased in 2023. The official GVWR according to the placard on my vehicle is 6283 lbs.

    Lucid Air or BMW i5

There is in fact something wrong with merely repurposing an ICE platform for an EV. It is suboptimal. It saves $3-4 billion of capital investment but it results in compromises. Wonderful if you are satisfied with those compromises. Enjoy your car. Interesting that Car and Driver’s top pick for...

    Lucid Air or BMW i5

I think the traditional car brand that has transitioned the best to EVs is Hyundai. No question. BMW EVs are over weight, lack space, and have poor range. BMW lacks a cohesive vision for its EVs. Repurposing an existing platform as an EV is a very weak, suboptimal strategy. BMW quality has been...

    Tire defect warranty

Has a 5,200 lb. vehicle ever been fitted with such low profile tires as the Lucid Air with 21’s as an OEM fitment? I think we are learning it may not be a good idea. There is 100 years of history that tire manufactures are responsible for the warranty on their product not the vehicle brand.

It takes some technique to get 4.2 mi/kWh. But it is easily learned.

Impressions of my first long road trip

I disagree. The Touring with 19 inch wheels has far better efficiency and range than every EV in the market except for the AGT. Most drivers of competitive vehicles need to charge up to 95% which takes forever and clogs up the charger network. I’ve been getting well over 200-220 kW at EA...

Guess the name of this project or the name of the future car...

Plymouth Horizon, circa 1979. The L-car. A.k.a. Dodge Omni. A pretty decent copy of the successful VW Rabbit. Unfortunately, the front transaxle kept leaking. One of the worst cars Chrysler ever made.
