    Update received today.

    Wheel size

I feel it is very risky to run a 5,000+ lb. vehicle on low profile tires which after all were really intended for sports cars which tend to be much lighter weight. The 19 inch set up is much more sane especially with no spare. It matters most on road trips. The 20-21 inch wheels look fabulous...

    Regenerative braking and range

Although it requires some technique to drive smoothly, regen does not hurt efficiency.

    Non Lucid home charger

I use an Enel X charger as required by my local utility to get an attractive TOU rate plan. It works great. The Lucid drives the process and the Lucid scheduled charging function works flawlessly. The charger cannot wake up the car so it’s scheduled charging function is irrelevant.

    Trip planning methods

ABRP allows user adjustment of many parameters such as efficiency, starting SOC, target SOC for recharging stops and final destination, max charge SOC, charging stop dwell time, bias for more frequent or less frequent stops, speed, etc. If you customize it can be a more useful tool. Coupled with...

    Insane residual on a 2024 LAT @ 18 month lease: 86%

Lucid will not become anywhere close to cash flow positive with the Gravity alone.

    Tesla lays off Supercharger team

I agree. Do the math. Even at $.50/KWh there is very little operating margin in running a charging network considering all costs. It is a loss leader to sell vehicles.

    New Model 3 Performance: 0-60 in 2.9?

I’m not sure labels matter that much, it’s about how the vehicle performs and how it looks. Polestar calls the Polestar 3 an SUV. Looks like a pretty cool hatch/crossover to me. I’m confident Lucid can create a great looking offering with outstanding performance with a mid-size 4,000 lb. vehicle...

    To the Motor City!

I was in Detroit as well last weekend. I posted here at length about the nightmare at the Michigan City, IN chargers. That is a newer location and usually performs well, I’ve been up to 245kw there but now only 1 of 6 are operating. The Kalamazoo and Ypsilanti locations also perform well...

    EA Charging Problems

I am only dependent on chargers for road trips. I use the PlugShare app. The score is useless because historical data may be irrelevant at any current moment in time. In my example this location has always been reliable in the past and has a PlugShare score of 10.0. Hence I stopped researching...

    Chargepoint DCFC Connection

Chargepoint seems to be installing 125kW fast chargers in the Midwest, many near retail or office parks. I tried but could not connect using the Chargepoint app. Never tried it before. Does anyone have experience with successful charging with Chargepoint’s DCFC stations? Any advice?

    Tire Options

I would advise against it. That is actually a pretty large difference to a tightly engineered and optimized system which impacts the dynamics of the tire and wheel and messes with what the computer thinks is happening to the vehicle, in addition to the speedo and odo being off.

    EA Charging Problems

Title this “EA Lessons Learned”. Driving home Saturday evening. 200 miles to go. 1 last charge needed. Michigan City, IN the eastern end of Chicagoland, newer charger site. I hit 245 kW in my Touring there recently. 5 of 6 chargers unavailable. 2 had no power. 2 said unavailable. 1 frozen said...

OK. Call it a thermal energy management system.

    Yo, Xponents.

There was a study done at MIT in the late 1980’s about the effect of technology on work life. The image from cartoons in the 1960’s like the Jetsons (remember anyone?) is that the machines do all the work and humans just sit around with a life of leisure. Kurt Vonnegut wrote a great novel on...

    First road trip - TX/OK

Fast charging to 100% is crazy. Takes too much time and may not be the best for long term battery health. Charging to 90% is better if you have the range. I have found fast charging to about 75% saves a heck of a lot of time as the power curve goes way down after 70% SOC. I use ABRP, EA, and...
