    Gravity Delivery Discussion

Yep, that would be us. Although we've been at Lucid HQ in Newark most of the past two weeks except for a couple of quick runs down to Casa Grande. Come to think of it, I never really seem to know where I am.

The Changing EV Climate in the U.S.

Yep, Florida Power & Light is even putting in EV chargers. There's a station near us at a Mattress City parking lot.

    Gravity Bugs / Issues

Just got an update from the Service Center on our Gravity. They are having to remove the entire dashboard to replace the HUD unit, which they described as "a big and time consuming job". They said that only after that and "the vehicle is programming" can they move on to diagnose the navigation...

New to the Lucid Family - From Model X to Gravity Dream Edition

I believe the trim you're talking about is a wool/polyester blend. Such material is usually very stain-resistant. We have the relatively light Santa Monica interior in our 2022 Air Dream Edition, and the interior still looks brand new except for the front-seat leather developing a bit of...

Gravity Service Appointments and Time In Service

We're still getting quick service on our Air, both by our mobile tech and by the Miami Service Center. For instance, we drove our Air over to Miami to sign the delivery papers for the Gravity because we wanted them to look at yet another problem with the Air frunk lid. They hopped right on it...

Gravity Service Appointments and Time In Service

Our first service visit by a mobile tech was on July 29. At that point he confirmed the navigation system and the GPS transmitter were not working in our Gravity and that the ghosts dancing across the windshield were from a warped HUD screen. He spent a couple of hours on the phone with Lucid...

    Too Frustrating

What I meant was powertrain, which includes the engine or motor, the transmission, and the drive shaft(s). The single- or dual-gear transmissions of EVs are much simpler than the multi-gear setups in most ICE vehicles and should be included in a comparison of complexity.

The Changing EV Climate in the U.S.

Florida has been kind of weird on the EV and solar energy front. Florida Power & Light has one of the most aggressive solar generation plans in the U.S. They have shut down their last coal-fired plant and now generate only with natural gas, nuclear, and solar with solar on track to be...

    Gravity Delivery Discussion

Since our delivery in Florida on June 30, our satellite map and navigation system has shown the car in only three places which it switches randomly between: Newark, CA (I think near Lucid HQ), the desert around Casa Grande, AZ (the factory location), and in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast...

The Changing EV Climate in the U.S.

This is the reason I've been arguing for several years that much of the key to EV adoption is in building codes. All new house, apartment, or condo construction and all major renovation projects should require provision for EV charging. It's as simple as providing for sufficient power service...

    Too Frustrating

There's a lot more to a modern car than just the drivetrain.

    Too Frustrating

Well, they really kinda are in the context of products as complex as cars. The two most problem-ridden cars I ever owned were a 1998 Corvette and a 2004 MB SL55 AMG, cars from companies that had been in the business for many decades. And although both these cars were technically new models...

The Changing EV Climate in the U.S.

Scaringe is an automotive engineer and apparently a pretty good one. If he's looking over his shoulder to see where the technology threats are coming from, he's looking over the wrong shoulder if what he sees is Tesla.

    Too Frustrating

This is generally good advice and tracks my own years of experience with being an early automotive adopter. However, Lucid makes it very difficult for buyers who put a high premium on power offerings. Their strategy of introducing a limited run of Dream Editions -- with significantly more...

The Changing EV Climate in the U.S.

In a recent interview R.J. Scaringe of Rivian spoke of how the growing antipathy toward EVs in the U.S. might have the small advantage of thinning out the competition for the pure-play EV manufacturers. But he and the author of the article mentioned Tesla and Rivian several times as those...

Ever Wonder What a Costco Tire Install Looks Like for an Air?

I know there have been numerous reports of sidewall bubbles with the Pirelli LM1 tires, and it's been one of those mysteries to me. We're on our third set of Pirelli 21" tires since we got our first Air almost four years ago. But the only reason I've had to change them was tread wear (solely...

Ever Wonder What a Costco Tire Install Looks Like for an Air?

I checked the Costco website, and they do have a vague general disclaimer under Installation Package that said, "Not available for all vehicles and/or tires. See Tire Sales desk for details." But you have to go into the small print and click on the tiny "i" icon to get to it. I can make no...

    Gravity Delivery Discussion

We did not like the Yosemite (white) interior at all when we saw it under showroom lighting because of that blue tint. However, when we went for a test drive a few weeks later at a different studio and were put in an Aurora Green with Yosemite interior, we promptly switched the order for our...

New to the Lucid Family - From Model X to Gravity Dream Edition

Tesla has closed a few V3 Superchargers to "NACS-partner" car brands due to high traffic volume at them from Tesla owners. It's best to check the Tesla website or app beforehand using the filter to show only "NACS-partner" sites.
