    Gravity; SUV or Minivan

Those of us without a loaner Gravity have too much time on our hands. We have to do something to pass the hours. 🤣

    Gravity test drive

I think if Tesla didn't have their somewhat ambiguous marketing that tends to oversell FSD as being autonomous driving, then you might not find so many people pushing back against it. As an ADAS system, it's pretty good. There are some concerning incidents of it misbehaving too rapidly and...

    Gravity; SUV or Minivan

I have an aging dog. The lower jump-in height for him is much appreciated. With my current vehicle, I have a flip out step mounted to the trailer hitch receiver. But I'm hoping to avoid that for the Gravity, as I assume it adds a decent amount of drag on the highway.

    Gravity Delivery Discussion

Are you sure interest is fizzling, and distrust growing? Perhaps you're just annoyed at having to wait? I get the impatience. But Lucid said all along that the ramp would be extremely slow, because they wanted to make sure that the vehicles were great when they were delivered. They're...

    Gravity Wraps

I think it'd be hilarious if they targeted a different kind of performance with each Sapphire model. I'm looking forward to the lifted monster-truck variant of the Gravity. 🤣

Is Sanctuary Mode available without the Tech Package upgrade?

The "why" is presumably just cost control. Limiting the number of option combinations eases manufacturing, and I assume some marketing person decided that tying together the various features in the technology package made sense for how they wanted to market and price the vehicle.

    Gravity Wraps

My source is this page on Lucid's site: https://lucidmotors.com/stories/introducing-sapphire-pinnacle-electric-performance. The key quote is towards the end: Of course, that's from almost three years ago, and their plans could certainly have changed since then.

    Gravity test drive

It's true that combining data from multiple sensors poses a challenge. But that's not unique to radar or lidar. Two optical cameras with overlapping fields of view also need to solve the problem. The human brain has to do it with our eyes as well. It's actually an incredibly challenging...

    Gravity Wraps

I wouldn't necessarily call it a commitment, but I think Lucid has said in the past that they plan to make Sapphire versions of all of their vehicles. A Sapphire Gravity will doubtless be too expensive for my taste.

    Gravity test drive

I think that understates what companies can get from Nvidia. I believe that Nvidia DRIVE Hyperion includes both the hardware platform and software, including ML models. But Nvidia is only pitching it as "level 2+" at this point. Even Waymo, the clear leader in autonomous driving, readily...

    Gravity test drive

I don't think they have a choice. The nature of liability law (at least in the USA) would probably make it very difficult for them to transfer liability to the owner. Honda tried to wiggle out of liability for ATV accidents in the 80's, and failed to do so. They could try to make owners sign...

Any idea why the efficiency display is capped at 6.21 mi/kwh?

The motor doubtless has an RPM the offers peak efficiency, but air resistance adds up so quickly at high speed, I'd guess that the most efficient speed is relatively slow. Just speculating, but I'd guess you'll find the most efficient speed is well below highway speeds.

    Gravity test drive

I definitely would not. I'm an engineer who has experience in machine learning. While I don't work in autonomous driving at all, I'm familiar with how brittle AI systems can be, and am quite risk averse about them when it comes to anything life-critical. The only current autonomous driving...

    Gravity test drive

I agree that highway driving is what I mostly care about. It's very very rare that I do enough non-highway driving that I really want someone else to drive. That said, there is one scenario where handling the trip end-to-end would be valuable for me: driving me home after I've been drinking...

    Gravity test drive

Do you mean license Autopilot? Or license FSD? It's not clear from your post, and they're not the same thing. Personally, if Lucid is going to license software for autonomous driving, I'd rather have them license Waymo Driver. Waymo driver is currently more capable. I don't want this thread...

    Gravity Delivery Discussion

I dropped by the Millbrae studio today, to check out the Gravity they now have on display. As I was leaving, I realized there was another gravity parked outside in their lot. Didn't turn around to go back and ask about it, but it could be a customer delivery cued up.

    Gravity available at Millbrae

All I know is that my order was assigned to Rocklin, and an SA in that location. I assume that at some point they'll ship your vehicle, at which point changing pickup locations might not be possible.

    Gravity available at Millbrae

Millbrae. My order is attached to Rocklin, but picking up will be much easier for me when I'm in SF.

Does anyone have an SA in Millbrae that they like? I'm about to switch my order to that location.

    Gravity Delivery Discussion

I doubt Lucid has said anything official, but has anyone heard anything about when 5 seat models will start being produced? I know that Lucid say they were going to focus on fully optioned Gravity builds first, which implies to me that anyone ordering a 5 seat model will have to wait a while...
