I have this happen in my car, which is especially fun in the school dropoff line of cars. It seems to correlate with putting the car into park, then the passenger door opening and closing. I'll take my key out to move it around with no luck and end up putting in the PIN.
Right now my car is...
Speaking of heated steering wheels, am I crazy or is the top of the bottom of the wheel supposed to be heated? I mean the inside of the bottom of the wheel. Mine feels cold compared to the outside edge and I could swear it was heated before.
I just got this call, they're swapping it out with a loaner in 2 weeks. I noticed the car was uploading a lot more data than usual when it was charging and they called me later the same morning to tell me the battery needs to be checked.
The Chicago area thing was a bunch of things that hit all at once. Kyle from OutOfSpec actually flew out for some reason and did some reporting and found:
1- Colder temperatures elongate EV charging time when they are not preconditioned to pre-warm the battery
2- There’s a huge amount of...
It's very dangerous to run summer performance tires in the snow. Move to all seasons or if it's a fluke snow due to the deep freeze, don't drive when there's snow. I remember my E36 M3 being unable to go up a slight incline into a parking lot when there was a dusting of snow early in the season.
There are threads about this on Reddit. It seems the batteries were too cold to charge and didn't have the ability to heat up quickly.
Kyle at OOS tested this last year at -14F. It took around 45 mins to get the battery warm enough to actually start charging.
There's a recall on coolant heaters for 3000 cars, my guess is that's part of the reason today. Mine went out last winter, I wonder if I got an improved one.
It's like the brake they use for hold releases 1/4 second too late so you get the slight shudder as it releases. It makes sense because they don't know when you're going to hit the accelerator. However, other cars don't have this problem so I'm not sure why Lucid does it this way.
