    Another Hopeful NC Noob

Beware of FOB battery going dead after a few months. ALWAYS carry card for emergency access. ( I know about fob NFC, but card is easier backup.)

    Actual Key Fob Data

Can anyone please give me some info of the timing needed to send the short + long signal from the key fob to open the trunk. It would be helpful in the form of short (seconds); space (seconds), long (seconds) We should not have to guess this. Thanks

    RESOLVED Android Auto Thursday

Funny! Hopefully it is better than the Lucid's key-fob certification process.

    Actual Key Fob Data

I wish they would sell us one (perhaps at a discount) that works like those on a cheap rental car.

Lucid: A wonderful car insulted by a poorly designed key.

    Actual Key Fob Data

Note that it also has a real house key holder instead of a mysterious slot that I was never able to thread anything through. I am now trying to learn sending the letter A in Lucid Morse Code (with tricky timing) so that the trunk will open remotely.

    Actual Key Fob Data

Thanks Mondo: That explains a lot. Here is my Version 2 keyfob using a CR2477/VCN battery which should provide over 4X the life of the original battery. This uses an $8.95 key case from Amazon, that holds the Lucid fob and battery well. The battery was $4.38 + $6.99 shipping from DigiKey. A...

    RESOLVED Android Auto Thursday

Oh Lucid, Oh Lucid, what ails thee? It seems to be Android Auto and the key.

    Actual Key Fob Data

I somehow have my proximity lock/unlock turned off - I think by a switch on the lower screen. I found the instructions in the manual. I do not have the mobile key on my Samsung Note 9 phone set up, since it is too old to use the Lucid Ap. The only way in/out right now is to HARD push the...

    Actual Key Fob Data

I decided that I need to keep the keyfob in my pocket every day, just like every other keyfob I ever used, and I don't want to walk around with a Faraday bag. Hence, I am starting to build my much smaller keycase based fob holder. Here is the battery I just ordered - a CR2477. It will have over...

    Thanks. Good info!

    Actual Key Fob Data

Thanks again Bob. The variabity we are hearing about may also be caused by a change in chip vendors. From the table I posted, different chips have different lives. I also wonder if they lower the advertising rate according to not hearing the mothership. That would be a terrific scheme to...

    Actual Key Fob Data

I was not able to find the exact protocol, but did find this: "Advertising and discovery BLE devices are detected through a procedure based on broadcasting advertising packets. This is done using 3 separate channels (frequencies), in order to reduce interference. The advertising device sends a...

    Actual Key Fob Data

B.B. Others have also reported success with the Fraday shield, but in my tests far away from the car fob, battery drain continues above standby at a high pulsed level. I had assumed that the Fob sends out a (battery draining) burst every second or so to see if the mothership responds. That...

    Actual Key Fob Data

As I have said in the past, in my opinion, the Lucid Air Keyfob is stylish but as poor in any other aspect as one can name, especially including battery life. In an effort to fix mine, I made conversion Model #1 shown in the figures below. It utilizes the original keyfob with an external CR2...

    Touchscreen sensitivity is very poor

Same issue, but no big deal.

    Actual Key Fob Data

If my guess is correct, the Farady shield will have no impact. My guess is that the fob is advertising itself too often for the size of the battery. My hope is that the RG1 or RG2 will fix it. RG = Rube Goldberg. Stay tuned for next week's adventure.

    Actual Key Fob Data

Progress Report: I emailed the fob manufacturer with questions, but no answer yet. Parts of my 'Rube Goldberg' solution (leather key case, larger CR2 battery and holder) are starting to arrive. I estimate about 1 week before I can build that. Meanwhile I looked up the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy...

    Actual Key Fob Data

I garre - it a great car, especially after I learn more about how to drive it. The fob issue is like a stone in an expensive shoe that we love. I wish that Lucid would offer us or sell us an upgraded fob or tell us more about the technology so we can find somone else to fix it.

    Actual Key Fob Data

I odered all the parts for my Rube Goldberg solution: CR2 battery and holder, leather key case. Total cost about $10 + $10 shipping. Will arrive in about a week. I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, I know Lucid tech folks are litening to this board. They should have the specs on the chip and...
