    New Variant coming....

It would draw positive attention but I think the thing that will sell most cars will be getting more cars on the road. Until then I think there’s always going to be a perception amongst the general (non-car nut / non-EV nut) public that Lucid is a boutique, super high-end exotic brand, not a...

Trucker Upset at Lucid Tempe Location?

I’m sure this isn’t the only place it happens. However it is really unfair on the drivers as my understanding is they are typically paid by the mile and it’s already very difficult to make a decent living… so having to wait 24 hours to unload really hurts. I would be worried about freight...

Lucid self driving spotted in Canada

I would wonder why Lucid wouldn’t / couldn’t buy high resolution mapping from another party. They are a tiny company, in the scheme of things, so would be at a severe disadvantage in putting together their own high res maps compared to Waymo/Google, Cruise, MobilEye etc. with their huge...

    110 V home charging only 2 mph

Even for smaller EVs with 120V, a dedicated circuit for the charger (ie no other receptacles or lights powered off the circuit) is highly recommended.

    Air Pure reservations

I’m no accountant but assume that all Lucid and Rivian can “book” (if anything) is the amount of the non-refundable deposit. If so, it’s maybe $5M or so of extra Q3 income, which should be negligible in the scheme of things (unless they can’t ramp up production in which case it would be about 5%...

[URGENT] $7500 credit for current reservation holders

Yes. As long as the car is delivered in 2022 it makes no difference. If car is delivered in 2023 (assuming you have a confirmed order and assuming that satisfies whatever IRS determines the “binding contract to purchase” requirement means) you obviously want to go by the “before” rule, because...

[URGENT] $7500 credit for current reservation holders

I would think it’s the IRS that would determine what constitutes a “binding contract to purchase”, no?

    Rivian Q2 earnings

Rivian is definitely burning it faster but have more (now down to $15B) Rivian has about 3.5x revenue of Lucid ( because they are producing more)

    Rivian Q2 earnings

I was mainly interested in whether Rivian would adjust their 2022 production outlook. They reiterated their 25,000 target in their earnings report today. That would mean about 18,000 vehicles total for 2nd half of the year.

    Electrify America

Do you have a white GT by any chance? I saw one on the LIE a few weekends back… the only Lucid I’ve seen in the wild so far

7500 EV tax credit update with new bill

I went ahead and did it. I’m fairly sceptical this will work (I.e. does a $300 non refundable deposit on a $77k vehicle that is not yet configured, let alone VIN assigned, really bind me to a purchase agreement?) but will be happy to be pleasantly surprised if it does. :)

Useful videos I found ... with a foreword.

Are you basing this on the Churchill Capital IPO? That wouldn’t be super relevant as a comp because the CCIV stock IPO would always price in the risk that a SPAC merger would ultimately not complete (versus RIVN which was a traditional IPO…that people got overexcited for! :) ) At IPO merger...

7500 EV tax credit update with new bill

I think the SAs probably shouldn’t be advising customers that way yet. Unless Lucid has received direct guidance from IRS already I don’t see how they could know that for certain.

7500 EV tax credit update with new bill

I hope anyone who has a confirmed order as of now will get their car before end of year. If not that’s not a good signifier for Lucid’s ability to achieve large scale production.

7500 EV tax credit update with new bill

If you take delivery before end of this year, EV credit qualification determination will follow the current rule (regardless of when order is confirmed). If you take delivery next year, EV credit qualification will follow the new (soon to be) law. It’s possible that confirming before the...

    Project Mid-size Model 3 competitor?

Also I’m guessing it must have started development in around 2015 or so (maybe earlier?) Although the market was steadily moving towards crossovers/SUVs I think there was still a decent demand for sedans at that time, compared to the situation today.

7500 EV tax credit update with new bill

What Fisker are offering is to allow reservation holders that have put down a refundable deposit ($100 - $250) to convert it to a “non-refundable order”. Once the bill becomes law, as @joec notes, IRS will determine what is meant by the language “a binding purchase order”. An order agreement...

7500 EV tax credit update with new bill

Right now I’m not sure anyone knows for sure which models (by any manufacturer) qualify for the battery materials sourcing requirement or (to a lesser extent) battery assembly requirement. There will likely be many cars that meet the MSRP and North America assembly requirements but only get half...
