Will EVs make much difference re. global warming?

Thanks for posting the article. Quite a few holes in this: -Seemingly unaware of the distinction between supply and demand, jumping to conclusion lack of consumer demand is reason EVs are relatively low % of car sales (ignoring order backlogs and wait times). -annual CO2 emmission reduction for...

Will EVs make much difference re. global warming?

I remember the days when BAT only auctioned 1 car at a time.

    New EA Labels

Their new stickers are beyond confusing. “Hyper” is faster than “Ultra”? I would think it should be the other way around. More generally I wonder how much money and time they spent to end up with a solution to better differentiating 150 & 350 chargers that uses prefixes which, for all...

Will EVs make much difference re. global warming?

I’m only commenting on the headline, but generally think from a macro level incentives are unnecessary at this time (due to demand outstripping supply) Can you stick to posting from a single account? This gets confusing.

Will EVs make much difference re. global warming?

Behind the pay wall so I can’t read it, but the irony is that EVs do not need huge subsidies (which seems to be the premise of the article). Demand considerably outstrips supply with typical waiting times from 3 months to 1+ years (up to 3yrs in some cases). The new law significantly reduces...

    Delivery False Start

From reading quite a few threads here it seems location has a bearing on how proactive they are. Most locations seem on top of things but others you might need to be the squeakiest wheel.

    Destination fee/factory pickup

My understanding is federal law requires that any destination fee must be the same for all customers (whether they pick up car from the factory or from the most remote car dealer in Alaska).

    Crash Testing?

Yes- I was checking for the NHTSA / IIHS ratings. That makes sense- thanks. Out of interest I searched a few other brands and found (I’m ignoring SUV type vehicles as I’m just not familiar enough with what the models are for most brands): -BMW: nothing higher than ~an M3 / 5 series tested...

    Crash Testing?

I checked NHTSA.gov and IIHS.org but didn’t see any crash test ratings for Lucid. A little surprising, as deliveries started October last year. I assumed that all cars for sale in the US would be tested by at least one of these entities but perhaps this only applies once a certain number of...

Lucid Has Other Car Companies Shooting For Them

Panamera is 9” shorter than an EQS- it’s much closer in size to an Air and EQE Not to say the next gen electric Panamera won’t be larger.

Lucid Has Other Car Companies Shooting For Them

It looks like 80%+ of current Panamera sales are outside the US.

Lucid Has Other Car Companies Shooting For Them

Other than the editor that wrote the headline I’m not sure that the reason Porsche is developing an electric Panamera is “because of Lucid”. It’s sort of inevitable they will be electrifying their line (they have already announced electric Macan, an electric Cayenne-like SUV, electric boxster...

Lucid Air GTP drive system fault

Every car I have driven that was made in the last 5 years or so has an electronic parking brake. Tow operators are accustomed to using dollies, or if it is just a straight pull onto and off the flatbread, trays. I’m not sure why that wasn’t done in this case- I’d expect any tow truck to have...

Lucid Motors switches the exec in charge of build quality as the EV startup struggles to ramp up production

It looks like Hochholdinger has now left Lucid (possibly canned?) https://www.businessinsider.com/executives-leave-lucid-electric-vehicle-startup-fight-ramp-production-2022-9

    Pures incoming?!

I doubt we will see Pures before metal-roofed Tourings. They might push a handful of Pures out before end of year/end of Touring run to be able to say deliveries have started, but I’m not expecting mine until well into 2023

Lucid is missing out in big Houston market

I don’t really understand the so-called “ban” on direct sales in TX. If Tesla can have a “delivery center” they are obviously selling cars in the state. I guess it’s just a matter of processing payment out of state? Or does it just mean the DTC companies cannot take the initial order at...

    Latest numbers from the Sapphire run: 1.8 - 3.7 - 226

I think it’s still the case you would get a better offer from one of Carmax, Zoom, or Carvana. These days, with their limited new inventory, car dealers from other brands often offer best prices for late model used cars so they actually have something to show on their lot and sell.

    171 MPH?

The Rivian R1T and Hummers are both 3.0sec 0-60 (a 9000lb truck). I think it will be a while before any of these are in the price range of a slammed 2014 Civic luckily. On the other hand having more $ to spend on a car doesn’t necessarily mean having more sense.

    Latest numbers from the Sapphire run: 1.8 - 3.7 - 226

Lucid is still dealing in very “boutique” numbers at the moment. I’m sure once they are really putting out better volumes they will institute trade-ins but at the moment I think they are focusing on getting production streamlined and getting quality right which is wise.

Something for the Dream Drive Pro and Tesla proponents to consider...

My understanding based on the thread on DDPro vs DD features, is that base DD cars without Lidar will still have adaptive cruise and lane keep assist (just no autosteer which is a DDPro feature). I assume even non-DD Pro cars will still have radar. However, of the 2 Teslas outlined one was a...
