After over a year of ownership, I still don't understand the entry/approach software of this car

The OP describes our (frustrating) experience with opening and interacting with our Air perfectly. I'm trying to be charitable because I knew what I signed up for, but maybe some resources from the department of bass futzing and curb rash preventing can go towards correcting the fundamental...

mi/$ not that great in CA for EVs?

Everyone cheers when PG&E is fined for various environmental mistakes but just like politicians promising higher taxes on those "evil" corporations, it's everyday consumers carry the burden of their increased costs of doing business.

    Consumer Reports Reliabilty Rankings

There is so much about CR that is just too polarizing to get into a online debate about it, and for what? From my experience with CR, the score of 7 is yet another data point proving that CR offers me absolutely nothing of value, but I'm also aware that I'm not a typical consumer.

Key Fob Battery Low - I Don't use it

I also started storing my the fobs in a faraday pouch as an experiment to preserve the battery The batteries went flat in a matter of months before that, so far so good in the pouch. I'm an exclusive phone key user and carry the card key for back up access.

World’s Fastest “supercar with a backseat” ever tested on C&D Lighting Lap

My weekend "fun" car is a CT5-V Blackwing. The Air is a great car and puts up impressive numbers, but I've never used performance metrics as a measure of driving satisfaction. The Blackwing is a full sensory experience that few other cars can achieve.

    2.6.2 Software Update

What is the obsession with OTA's around here? If you car needs it, it will get it, otherwise just carry on with your day. You really have time to burden a CSR to get them to push an update of little consequence?

    Interesting design choice

Clearly they are out there, but I can't think of a car I have driven with the wiper controls on the right. I think the wiper control flaw is that other than the wash and mist wipe, all other settings are on the touchscreen with zero tactile reference requiring eyeballs for the right setting.

A few software bugs I’ve noticed

For people that read Consumer Reports, this thread is exactly what distinguishes a top rated pick and Lucid. They are both good cars, but the things that some discount as inconsequential are in fact the reliability differentiators. Sure, in the larger context of life in the modern world, these...

Lease Ending - Buy or Upgrade to 2025?

We generally don't do loans on cars (for more than a few months anyway) but for me, the opportunity costs and risk of allocating significant capital in a volatile EV market is too much. I'd rather know my costs by leasing the latest technology vs not knowing how bad and how fast the losses...

    Today's Car News

I understand some people disagree with his politics and its unfathomable to have such a polarizing figure at the helm, but if you believe in EV's as a solution then cheerleading plummeting Tesla sales as nothing but a political FU to Elon is interesting. I think some of the reduction could be...

Considering Used 2022 Lucid Air GT... Qs about performance

To the OP, if you're primarily focused on 0-60 and HP metrics, you might be asking the Air to be something it isn't. I thought the Model 3 Performance was a real hoot but didn't take long to establish more than a cursory measure of a vehicle and wished for more range, refined interior, and...

    Hunting wild Lucid Airs

I spotted an Air going south on I-505 yesterday afternoon, but then about a minute later I spotted a Aurora Green Gravity going the same direction!

    Consumer Reports Reliabilty Rankings

People still read CR? 😆 I drank the kool-aid for a spell, but the data they collect includes some subjective elements which is where their bias comes in. CR might be OK for a dishwasher, and if you want to drive an appliance then CR might steer you right. Honestly I think CR did Lucid a...

    We’re safe. Thank you Lucid

Seems like the air bag algorithms and logic have improved a lot. The fact that the Lucid driver sustained no injuries is a least one data point that air bags would have done nothing to improve the outcome and would have added thousands of dollars to the repair bill (not to mention the potential...

Open letter to Lucid after 29 months of ownership

Mr. Rawlinson publicly acknowledged the software is not optimal, so not sure what to make of the folks that are flabbergasted that a large segment are in fact dealing with software issues. With that said, if you fight through the issues and listen to the knowledgeable pioneers that freely...

    Customer Service - WTF!

There are people that also spent north of $100k (some a lot more) and they had problems before you did. As you acknowledge, this not a mature legacy mfg, it's a start up with finite resources, thus a service queue is to be expected. #entitledmuch? #firstworldproblems

Damn Lucid! My efficiency just …

The "whining" is not about the efficiency, or how the car drives. I agree though, outside of the software the car is awesome.

    Next update?

I'll take a slower pace of OTA's over more frequent updates that need patches to regain all the functionality I had before the update. For the love of all things holy, introduce more robustness, all the robustnesses!!!

Open letter to Lucid after 7 months of ownership

I'm in the "great car, software is a fail" camp, but my wife can't get past "the software is a fail". My complaints on here are mostly fueled by her frustrations with the car. For success Lucid needs exponential growth and when only the most charitable among us thinks the software is flawless...

How Often Will the Air Top Up its Charge?

I just retrofit my Tesla wall charger with the Lucid unit. It topped up on the Tesla charger/Tesla Tap configuration as well as the Lucid charger. Same 60a circuit/48a charge as you. As a side note, the Lucid charger is really a beautiful piece of equipment. I love the attention to detail...
