    Will 240v 50 amp Tesla charger w 14-50 work?

Thanks, I didn't know it was passive. In that case, yes, you should definitely get at least the 60A, and as Sandvinsd says the 80A if you think you might ever use it on a destination EVSE that supports 80A. It seems safest to buy the converter that supports the max the car can draw (80A for the...

    Will 240v 50 amp Tesla charger w 14-50 work?

I doubt anyone here has actually tried that exact situation, but if the Tesla Mini adapater does what it says it does, it should translate the max amperage (48A) communicated by the Tesla wall box into the J1772 standard protocol, and the Lucid should recognize it can charge at 48A. So yes, if...

I'm in Los Gatos and have a Dream R on order, supposedly now enroute Arizona to Millbrae.

Anyone in Silicon Valley with a Zenith Red version that I can take a look?

Well, I've gotten the "will ship from the factory in the coming days" notification, so I expect to have one in a couple of weeks if not sooner. Happy to have you look at it then if you haven't found another by then.

    Radar detector location ?

Owners have reported that the lower right of the windshield (passenger side) is free of interference, and the only such spot on the windshield.

    Lucid Store is officially open

To be clearer than I apparently was :), I am not advocating that the website or photos be less polished, and certainly not that it have less information or views of the car, nor were either of those my problem with the site last year. It's possible to have all of that good stuff without...

    Charging options

Agreed. My only point was that 80A should deliver twice the rate of 40A, whatever that rate is.

    Charging options

That seems odd to me: If the car is charging at 80A (19.2kW) it should be getting closer to twice the miles per hour as 40A. Are you sure that's not an 80A circuit, charging at 64A (15.3kW)? The numbers work out exactly if that's the case. I do know that charging at higher amperage results in...

    Lucid Store is officially open

Hmm. That's not what I said, but given the conversations we've had elsewhere about what tone and content is appropriate for this site, I may have been out of line. I was thinking this kind of comment was in line with comments about the experiences owners have with the car, but I see now this is...

    Charging options

The Rivian comes with its own Portable charger that similarly will plug into NEMA 14-50 or NEMA 5-15. See my post in the other thread about the Wunderbox: It is an onboard charger, but you still need something external to plug into standard household outlets, such as the mobile charger.

    What am I missing....

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, but to be pedantic (something of a specialty of mine :)): The thing on the wall that everyone (including me) calls a charger for convenience is really just a power connection device; all modern EVs have chargers built in that can take that A/C power...

    Lucid Store is officially open

Sure. 15 years ago I plunked down a full-price deposit for a roadster from a certain other EV manufacturer (perhaps the one you are referring to :) ), and frankly one of the reasons I was comfortable doing that was somewhat irrationally their website looked professional with high-end photography...

    Lucid Store is officially open

The picture took a long time to load for me and I was really looking forward to seeing a dog in Lululemon clothes and a 9forty hat drinking out of a Yeti dish. So disappointing. :) The camp mug looks a lot like the one I got at a Rivian popup event in 2020, except black (naturally) instead of...

    Lucid Store is officially open

Yes!! I literally avoided reading in depth about Lucid for months last year because of how much the Lucid marketing look and feel turned me off. I finally decided that what mattered was how well the engineering team did their job, and it looked reallly solid, so I went ahead with my...

Yeah, the resistance heater currently in the Lucid will definitely use more power than the A/C for the same temperature difference. If you can stand leaving the cabin temerature low(er) and relying more on the seat heaters, that will also help.

Note that it's not just the A/C (and the heater) and the maximum speed. Read through this other thread for a discussion of the different factors that can significantly affect range. There are many other posts about range here as well you can search for. But if you're willing to hypermile (keep...

Welcome! Re 1) the 500-mile range test at 70mph: That test was not really representative of real-life driving, because it was as close to a constant 70mph as they could get. Based on what the owners have posted here with real-life experience, you'll see a similar dropoff from the rated range on...

    An interesting observation

I think it partly depends on whether we view this forum as for owners or whether it also is for people who have made deposits and haven't quite decided yet. Having been one of the latter (hopefully converting to the former soon :)), I appreciate the negative comments from owners and those who...
