    What am I missing....

I claim no expertise, but I read this on the Internet so it must be true 😉: "High-power devices like EV chargers – whether a compact onboard type rated for 3 kW or a CHAdeMO 100 kW monster – invariably use a boost converter (see Fig. 5) to perform active PFC."...

    What am I missing....

In my case, at least at the breaker, voltage only dropped about 1V (from 236V to 235V) when charging from 0 - 60A. Don't know what it is at the EVSE, no easy way to measure it there. There's about a 30ft run to a J-Box adjacent to the EVSE, but they ran oversized cables there, and properly sized...

    What am I missing....

Thanks everyone for the advice and insight. I put a clamp-on ammeter / power meter at the circuit breaker as @DeaneG suggested and it showed 60-62A, true RMS power of ~14.5 kW, and 235V (down from 236V at ambient). Apparently EVSEs typically have Power Factor Correction built in, so a PF of 1...

    What am I missing....

Thanks. Even at 235V it would still be > 15kW, and with my 400A service I don't generally see much of a drop with load. But I'll check next time I'm charging.

    What am I missing....

I just got my car yesterday (yay!) and I plugged into my new 64A charger (on an 80A circuit) and the Air reports pulling 14kW (charge level was around 75% at this point). 64A * 240V is 15.3kW, so I would have expected to see 15kW on the display. Do we know if Lucid is reporting power consumed...

Time Between Confirmed Order & DA Reach Out?

You don't need to pay for the whole vehicle until you get it. Only the deposit becomes nonrefundable once the order is confirmed. In California you can pay for delivery with a cashiers check when you pick up your car.

Thanks for having me! Torn between the Air GT or keeping my current car (CT5-V Blackwing)

Is that because you lose the connection with the automotive history? For me when I'm driving (and I realize everyone is different), I feel more connected to EVs because of the instantaneous accelerator response; the car feels more a part of me than it does if I'm waiting the half-second or so...

Thanks for having me! Torn between the Air GT or keeping my current car (CT5-V Blackwing)

Ah yes, I learned to drive on a Buick Electra 225 with a 7+ liter V8. Of course it was pushing a lot of metal around... But yeah, after driving my Roadster for 13 years I have the same reaction to ICE cars. They have had a practical advantage for easier fueling but they no longer represent the...

    First EV? Kind of surprising

I've driven an EV since getting the Roadster in 2008, but I've avoided any other EVs until now because I'm not a fan of the larger Tesla interiors and I haven't been a fan of other EVs' range and charging infrastructure. I don't buy cars that often (typically replace after 10 years) and I...

    Look: Platinum

Well, I'm just guessing, but I'd guess that the 3 higher-end summary sections should say "Platinum" and the Pure summary section should say "Metal top", to match the configuration text and photos. But who knows.

    Look: Platinum

and the configuration section describes the Touring Look as "Platinum" and the Pure Look as "Metal top"

    Look: Platinum

I think that's a bug in the configurator summary. The Pure and the Touring both show "Platinum" in the Look row of the summary, but in the configuration pictures in the "Look" section the Touring shows a glass top and the Pure shows aluminum.

    Independent EV Mechanics…..

I mostly agree with hydbob. I think EVs are going to be mainstream enough soon that most mechanics will be able to service them once the current crop goes out of warranty. But there is such a specialist for the Tesla Roadster: https://grubermotors.com/services/ In that case they made so few...

    Tesla CCS Chargers?

To be pedantic (my specialty 😆), "CCS" ("Combined Charging System") refers to the combination of L2 and L3 capability in the same connector. The picture is of just the L2 connector, which for CCS1 in the US is called J1772. I'm curious too what the power will be for those Tesla-branded L2...

    Will 240v 50 amp Tesla charger w 14-50 work?

Electrek has reported that in the US, this will be done via an adapter, available at the Supercharger site, that will allow the supercharger cable to plug into the standard CCS connectors in US EVs. So you won't need any additional adapter beyond what Tesla will provide onsite.

    Lucid Store is officially open

Indeed (see attached). The Lucid mug is really nice. The logo is very reflective and appears to be raw brushed metal. In any case it looks very nice. :)
