Real world range touring 19 inch wheels

In good weather and at reasonable speeds, I've been getting 4 miles/kWh with my Touring and 19 inch wheels, so theoretically about 350 miles on a full charge, if I actually used the full charge. However there is very large variability depending on conditions or driving style (as in any vehicle...

Per the New York Times, Lucid owners are “tedious rich people”

“Media Outlet Sensationalizes to Drive Readership” - news at 11. Happens as much with publications whose views I agree with as ones I don’t IMHO.

    Lucid app update v1.49.0

iPhone 14 Pro. It does work perfectly smoothly for an arbitrary time before degrading.

    CarPlay issues

Thanks for your help. I was not clear in my post. I do actually do that, along with all the other things you suggest in your video (this one I assume) but no dice. Again, this happens occasionally but still more than 0% of the time, and I can't predict when, or any contributing or mitigating...

    CarPlay issues

I'm somewhere in between...works the vast majority of the time with no trouble. But wireless CarPlay fails miserably roughly every week or two, where it just refuses to connect (sitting on the "connecting to CarPlay" dialog box on the car no matter how many times I try to reconnect) unless I...

    Lucid app update v1.49.0

Yes on the latest iOS, no on uninstalling and reinstalling. The app works, and I agree, since the app functions I’m not bothered about the spinning car 🙂

    Lucid app update v1.49.0

Spoke too soon! Rendering still degraded much of the time.

    Lucid app update v1.49.0

It also appears, on my phone, to have fixed the rendering of the 3D car model.

    Drive Comparison, GT, Touring, Pure??!

I have practically zero squeaks and creaks in my 1/2023 build Touring after "Bobby foam" (felt pads in my case), ensuring trim is fully clipped in, and strategically applying tiny amounts of Krytox lubricant. Anec-data suggests that they've done a better job with assembly over time.

Tesla Superchargers to open to all EVs in California

I've always held the view that managers who think this way are themselves fungible cogs, because it isn't a very intellectually demanding management methodology.

Spotify atmos and heated steering wheel

Congrats and welcome! My heated steering wheel gets uniformly warm. I'd have the tech take a look while they're there.

Tesla Superchargers to open to all EVs in California

This could almost be interpreted as political allegory these days, but I think it doesn't need to...people do this in all arenas. Musk has done an incredible job of leveraging this approach for his own benefit.

Tesla Superchargers to open to all EVs in California

At the risk of veering off topic, I've often wondered what are the proportions of skill, luck, and inertia responsible for the positive outcomes of Musk and other very successful people. I suspect Musk has a lot of skill, but he also had a lot of luck earlier on...but now he has a lot of inertia...

Tesla Superchargers to open to all EVs in California

Now that so many other car makers have committed to NACS, does Musk expect them to somehow fill the void that the dismissal of the Supercharger team has created?

    Lucid app update v1.49.0

I don't doubt that would work but it won't fix the underlying issue. Since the core functionality works, I don't care that the car is somewhat less beautiful from time to time :) (iOS would rather degrade 3D rendering in the foreground than kill background apps when there isn't much RAM free?)

    Lucid app update v1.49.0

Also: the 3D view seems to have lost its lighting: Not exactly a showstopper but thought I’d mention. The app still functions fine. Force closing and restarting restores the lights.

    Lucid app update v1.49.0

Anectodally the new app is better at initiating car wakeup. Previously I'd frequently have to force close and restart to get the app to commence the wakeup. Now it seems reliable, with the car actually waking up in a timely manner every time (subject of course to cell reception where the car is...

    Lucid app update v1.49.0

There are plenty of consumer-grade parts available, of which ESP8266/ESP32 are great examples, but as I understand it, automotive parts need to be able to live a long and tough life and so there are fewer viable options. I'll take your word that (ab)using 802.11 as you describe is not...

    Lucid app update v1.49.0

Then the obvious question is - why can’t our cars do this? 😛 @GoFast

    Lucid app update v1.49.0

It’s the vehicle side parsing I’m worried about - is there an automotive part available that can do this within a low power budget? (I thought the car is woken by SMS which I suppose is low power?) (I am well and truly out of my depth there if you couldn’t tell)
