Lucid Motors is stuck in a fight over the name of its Gravity SUV

    1. Do not know. Trying to undo a official TM is not easy. I would think the burden of proof is all on Gravity Inc. I am sure there are possible federal court appeals. I am sure there are experienced IP lawyers on here who cam opine. I do TMs and I am a litigator. But I do not litigate IP...

Lucid Motors is stuck in a fight over the name of its Gravity SUV

You may know this, and any litigator on the forum will say: there are many weird esoteric defenses a defendant MUST raise in its answer or it may loose the right to bring them later. Called Affirmative Defenses. Laches, unclean hands, respondiot superior, failure to mitigate, standing. So...

Lucid Motors is stuck in a fight over the name of its Gravity SUV

Actually, I think there is "now" a risk of confusion in the market place. But so what. Lucid has legal right to rely on the USPTO TM approval, which it did to its detriment. I always find USPTO examiners to bend over backwards looking for possible confusion. He or she DID NOT with the Lucid...

Lucid Motors is stuck in a fight over the name of its Gravity SUV

See my response and @Babyrocko1908 excellent response, above. IMHO, Google sat on its hands. Ignored Lucids TM application for Gravity, then years later, it said: "Gravity is a cool name, shit, Lucid took it, let's rewrite history."

Lucid Motors is stuck in a fight over the name of its Gravity SUV

Great answer @Babyrocko1908 . Of the defenses, Laches screams out to me. Where the F was Google these past years when Lucid was developing Gravity. Every TM lawyer knows that getting a TM is only the beginning. You must protect. Many great TMS were lost for the owners failure to protect...

    NACS Megathread

A worthy endeavor. I have sent products off for certification, UL-CSA, Intertek ETL, TUV. Expensive and time consuming. But good piece of mind for anything connected to mains power, and you can't sell in the EU with out it. I love it when a Chinese product says: tested to meet UL standards...

Agreed. Or even more high quality adapter competition for TT. It was a Amazon cheapie that melted the Lucid port. To be frank, I was shocked it only cost $1200 to repair.

    EA Charging Issues

That makes sense. I had that happen last fall. Pulled into the EA chargers behind the Rivian factory team doing the Denver - Glenwood test run. EA is like a box of chocolates. Never know what you are going to get.

Not LCD, but the Everyman. And for cars, that ain't you @Bunnylebowski. Or me. Our value propositions are simply different. As House said: everyone lies. CL does not lie. But I do not agree, for ME, with its car reviews. Life goes on. Let's be honest, a Lucid us not for the average person...

Perhaps I was not clear, Lucid service said it was a J1772 to Tesla Destination charger cord adapter that destroyed the charge port on a Lucid in their shop.

Lucid Motors is stuck in a fight over the name of its Gravity SUV

As a corporate lawyer and litigator, my opinion is that the litigation does not hurt. But is costly. It's the cost of having to re-brand if you loose. Changing a name, starting anew, lost name recognition. Warning, I have not read the briefs. But the fact that Lucid has worked years on the...

New All Season Tire Test from TYRE REVIEWS - Michelin Cross Climate no longer #1 for this tester

New All Season Tire Test Continental AllSeason Contact 2; then Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6, Pirelli All Season SF3; then Michelin Cross Climate 2. . I really like this guy's tire tests. Note, he makes no mention of EVs. Many great tires simply cannot handle the weight of EV's. Always...

I will not forget all i learned at Hubbell. Strange Segway, but it allowed me to opine here about people saying that a $10 Leviton stove receptacles are just fine for EV charging at 40 amps for 6 hours at a time. Most do not know all the engineering and thought in the design of a purpose built...
