The “fix” is an over-the-air update and does not require a trip to the service center. Musk complained that the media should not have labeled this as recall because it did not require visit to service center.

You did not mention the temperature. Full high regeneration is not available when battery is cold.

If safety is more important than range, you should look at Volvo EX-90. Safety is their top goal. Range should be around 300 +/-.
