Actually, if you place the card on the "Y" above your head (& center) .. see photo, you don't need a pin, you'll be able to drive the car w/o FOB or phone. That said, IMO, the card is NOT a Valet card. It doesn't prevent anyone from opening the glovebox, trunk, or frunk.

I'm guessing that the installation costs vary by area, difficulty (and length) of electrical wiring, etc. .. but it does seem pretty expensive (I think I paid ~10% of that for my Chargepoint installation last year)

fwiw .. I installed a hardwired Chargepoint on a 60A breaker (=48A draw); which I've found to be plenty for home/overnight charging. Unless you are always taking long road trips, you shouldn't be charging past 80% or so (for daily driving) .. I only charge it when it's down in the 50% range (or...

100% my wife has been waiting 2+ yrs for her R1S .. and we may b waiting forever (or until they come around regarding service center proximity .. which may be next decade) .. have backup reservations w/ GMC and Volvo, but both of those are 2024-2025 at best.... she is not happy.
