Oil giant bp to buy $100 million of Superchargers from Tesla.

If Tesla manufactures Superchargers at a cost of $43k per unit that would be impressive. Still don't see them selling to BP for less than $100k if that is the cheapest competitor while Tesla offers superior performance and reliability.

Oil giant bp to buy $100 million of Superchargers from Tesla.

I don't think Tesla wants the world to know what price they agreed to sell Superchargers to BP. Commercial DC fast chargers usually sell for between $100k and $200k. So BP should be deploying between 5k and 10k Superchargers in the US. Tesla has "over 20k Superchargers across the US."

    NACS Megathread

GM and Ford should start using the Supercharger network in late Q1 2024. Toyota signed later and will not have their software ready til 2025. Lucid, being a CA startup, should be able to move much faster on the software front than Toyota. What pray tell do you foresee possibly happening...

    NACS Megathread

If Lucid signed a NACS deal with Tesla then Lucid cars could use all the North American Superchargers with an adapter at ~ 50 kW on the specified date in the deal. Lucid could adapt their inverter to up the kW or Tesla could adapt the V1,V2,V3 Superchargers to increase power. V4 Superchargers...

    Gravity starting at 80k?

Maybe not at launch but it would be really stupid not to offer a decontented version for $79,999 to take advantage of the Federal Tax credit for sales. Leases should include the credit regardless.

    CyberTruck Delivery Date

The base Model 3 is $39k. A base Cybertruck is not going to be near $40k. Tesla doesn't need to undercut the competition by $10k. $2500 should do to move the needle.

    CyberTruck Delivery Date

Most cars are sold to existing brand customers. Ford was doubling production capacity projections since the debut of the Lightning. Now it has 8k Lightnings sitting on dealer lots, most with discounts. My guess, like other Teslas, 2/3 of sales will come from existing Tesla owners and 1/3...

    Q3 production and deliveries?

The smaller car is not ready now. Lucid factories are not ready now. Lucid distribution is not ready now. Lucid service is not ready now. Lucid brand awareness is not ready to move 500k plus units per year. Trying to speed up the introduction of the smaller car will also require volume...

    NACS Megathread

Cybertruck will be the first not the last Tesla vehicle to move to 1000v. I think Cybertruck sales will be smashing success. Lightning demand is already feeling the force of Cybertruck's immanent debut. Even if Cybertruck sales where underwhelming Tesla will simply release a conventional...

    NACS Megathread

Yes, older V1,V2, and older Tesla cars use CHAdeMO software protocols. Older Tesla cars will need to upgrade their onboard connector to use NACS at a non-Tesla charging station.

Another CCS Charging Network on horizon

They have Teslas in the concept drawings. They said they will charge all EVs. My guess is all points will have a NACS and CCS connector and there will be 1 or 2 CHAdeMO connectors to qualify for California funding.

    Rivian Engineering

Total hit piece. Much of the same attacks can be made at Lucid Motors just substitute Lucid for Rivian. We don't know what the Max Pack is other than their are no additional cells. Just better chemistry. The original Max Pack was going to be physically larger and be placed in the gear tunnel...

Munro Associates, Cory Steuben, Joins the Lucid Team

More likely Lucid or a head hunter sought him out. My guess is many a legacy automaker has made him a job offer. Lucid is closer to the ground floor, bigger risk/reward, and offers him a chance to shepherd in a potentially industry benchmarking vehicle. Legacy automakers make engineering...

In Munro videos, he seems like a very smart engineer. Seems like a good addition.

Savage Geese just dropped his Sapphire review!

This is the same shade Tesla fanbois throw at Air. It is using a 118 kWh battery for Dream and Sapphire while Model S is now using 20 kWh smaller battery. Putting in a small battery solves even less. Silverado EV 4WT has a frunk, 450 miles of range, and has 63 mpge while the most efficient...

Savage Geese just dropped his Sapphire review!

The F-150 Lightning is an obvious ICEv conversion. Mach-e started life as a compliance vehicle. Then the original vehicle was scrapped in favor of making a Ford Model Y. Ford engineers still tried to repurpose as many ICEv parts as possible into the Mach-e. The original vision was a low...

Savage Geese just dropped his Sapphire review!

Of course it is 100% going to be too expensive for most individuals. That doesn't matter. It can still sell like hot cakes. Not McDonalds hot cakes. Like pancakes at premium kitschy diners. Lucid needs to sell 60k per year for the Gravity to be a smashing success. Gravity doesn't need to...

Tesla drops Model S/X pricing even further

Elon haters are getting desperate. Model S and X have a negligible effect on Tesla margins and stock price. Model S and X now exist for marketing reasons. And effect on stock price is very indirect. I supposed Tesla engineer says cost to make a Model S is about $53k and about $5k more...

ChargedEVs article series on the state of CCS charging

That is not the EU charging network. Porsche has 1 station so far. Plans a few more in German speaking countries. There are a few stations as nice as the generic one shown in Kyle's other video. Tesla has several 40 plus plug stations with private lounges and amenities in the USA. The...

Funny how all the legacy OEMs are pissed they don't get to free ride off of VW dieselgate reparations.
