Lucid Motors unveils a $69,900 version of its long-range, luxury electric sedan

Not many more undecided or on the fence Lux buyers for a Tesla model S left (declining sales). Most Model S owners claim it is as good or better in comfort compared to the S class. I don’t really think most owned a newer one (probably comparing against w140 or w220) and they never sat in the...

Lucid Motors unveils a $69,900 version of its long-range, luxury electric sedan

I can’t agree more. Lucid should stop worrying about those 0.2 sec differences. I don’t believe s class or big german sedan buyers worry about those 3k, 5k, 10k or whatever small price cut differences. Focus on the application of interior spaces, the comfort, the road noise and suspension...

Price war? 60k? Run a negative margin and below model Y performance Price to win this war? Get the interior right and focus on EQS as competitors instead. Blow people’s mind with the Lexus Genesis strategy and true lux.

Lucid’s Tri-Motor Retakes Tesla’s Plaid Record at Laguna Seca

Amazing. Where can I buy some Lucid motors stock again?

Lucid’s Tri-Motor Retakes Tesla’s Plaid Record at Laguna Seca

That makes sense and I would imagine Lucid could do better. The way the person drove it in some of the turns was really underwhelming. It’s kind of slow that even a regular sports car could probably do better times in the corners..

Lucid’s Tri-Motor Retakes Tesla’s Plaid Record at Laguna Seca

I just watched the Tri-Motor car run video on a big screen. The last few turns are really average, Lucid probably needs to hire better testers, the car’s acceleration is nice but the line and response are so... hmm, let’s say a Miata at those corners would probably look more fluid.

    Rear Seating

So true. I can not recall if I ever folded my rear seat in the S class and don’t see that function adding any value (probably more harm than good) to any 150k luxury sedan. Lucid really need to take the advice and closely study the S class and ensure good torsional rigidity. It’s not like we...

Lucid’s Tri-Motor Retakes Tesla’s Plaid Record at Laguna Seca

9.245 sec in a luxury sedan without final optimized chassis, battery management software (Tesla advantage) and gigantic diffuser/aero. It would likely be < 9 sec next year. https://insideevs.com/news/445687/lucid-air-tri-motor-performance-drag/

    Battery Technology

100% agree and unfortunately only the Saudi‘s were bold enough to invest in Lucid in the private market. That aside, it’s a different business model vs Tesla at the moment and it carries a higher margin, higher probability of success, and easier market expansion (with other traditional brands...

Lucid’s Tri-Motor Retakes Tesla’s Plaid Record at Laguna Seca

some good replies from Lucid - the focus is still luxury. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.caranddriver.com/news/amp34135652/lucid-air-ride-along-laguna-seca/

    Battery Technology

If we compare the engineering team vs product design team, it’s feels like Lucid only plans to develop a limited number of products but significantly expand its platform offerings and possibilities. It could plan to position itself as the core chassis and battery manufacturer (similar to either...

    Battery Technology

Based on the talents Lucid is trying to fill in the hardware/software engineering and power design teams, besides Power management and optimizations, it does look like the firm is looking to heavily expand its capabilities and potentially building out its own energy storage supplies and control...

Lucid’s Tri-Motor Retakes Tesla’s Plaid Record at Laguna Seca

Can’t agree more. Almost feel like I am watching the story of a riced Honda Civic with big multi turbo setup and nos.

Lucid’s Tri-Motor Retakes Tesla’s Plaid Record at Laguna Seca

Cutting a full 6 seconds off on the Laguna Seca raceway from previous plaid figures while keeping it in a street legal production form seems like a very difficult task to accomplish with the same chassis, equal/weaker drag and some aero. With just 1100 horsepower, I am very curious how it is...

Lucid’s Tri-Motor Retakes Tesla’s Plaid Record at Laguna Seca

I wonder about this as well. It needs to be repeatable and require little prep time. I would definitely not be a fan if someone needs to drive around 60 minutes and press an “insane” mode change to run it for... 1 time only.

Lucid’s Tri-Motor Retakes Tesla’s Plaid Record at Laguna Seca

Musk just mentioned 1:30.30 for plaid that would come later and around end of next year. No additional details.
