Goodbye and farewell after 40 months

Yes, 48 mph on long road trips. Try it sometime! I am NOT saying the EPA cycles are wrong. And I disagree with the folks that say we should blame the EPA. The issue is how the manufacturer embellishes the EPA rating in their ads. As @Ampere noted, he "thought" he was going to get better...

Goodbye and farewell after 40 months

Other EV manufacturers, complying with EPA, using the 2-cycle test AND a conservative derating, often meets/exceeds their claimed mileage/efficiency numbers, closely matching the performance in real life. In contrast, Lucid (Tesla) don't. Their deviation is off by as much as 20-25%. I think...

Goodbye and farewell after 40 months

Sad to see you go. Similarly, I share many of the likes and dislikes you stated. Lucid's efficiency/range claims are "technically correct, consistent with Lucid's methodology" but misleading when compared with most US usage, hence the disappointment. Honestly, I think Lucid should revisit...

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

That being so, does that mean any EV can be designed to charge at 800+ volts without having the added encumbrance of added circuitry to boost the voltages internally? What percentage of chargers are actually, natively 920V capable?

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

AI says, native 800V public chargers is approx 1.5% of the total. I don't know if that's correct. If you have different data, share them.

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

As I understand it: > until recently (a couple of months ago), US-Canada's Auto-Pact (not sure if it is/was part of the 50+ year Auto-Pact) either disallows the importation of Chinese autos into N America or to block such imports with hefty duty. > as Trump monkeys around with the...

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

Not under-estimating how fast Cosmos (thanks @borski) might charge. Please remember this is a mid-market product selling @$45k to $55k. And there are few native 800V charge stations around in the today. In my opinion, it is not a technology issue per se. I am sure Rivian know how to do an...

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

Let's not forget, the R2 is a mass-market targeted vehicle. If you normalize the R2's charging curve vs Air and Gravity, I'd think (I haven't done the work yet) Gravity would be best, but R2 beats the Air (in charging curve). My take is, R2 stayed with 400V for cost reasons. Most mid-size...

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

Well said! I might add, almost every single day, a Rivian Amazon delivery van shows up (sometimes twice a day) on my short cul-de-sac. There is a lot of "in-your-face" advertising.

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

Good data. Yes, it is off topic RE: Cosmo Reservation. I suspect then 400V choice is a cost (vs. benefit) consideration. Sometime Cosmo has to face as well.

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

There is no debate that 800Vis the future. According to an AI search, only 1.5% of US commercial chargers are natively 800V. It is a fair question to pose RE: why did the R2 stay with 400V. I suspect it is cost driven and R2's 400V architecture still has decent specs. Rivian's R2...

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

while "800V Charging" invokes a visceral response that means fast charging. Realistically, whether it is 400V or 800V, isn't the flatness of the charging curve also the key factor? Didn't we already learn this lesson before (e.g., Taycan vs the AGT)? One of the Air's initial claims is the...

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

Perhaps. Lucid got itself into this predicament as it left the SW/HW languished on both the Air and the Gravity. Once you launched a product, the impact and remedies become much more convoluted and costly. That's why most high-tech products developers engage knowledgeable beta testers that...

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

Cosmo will come to the US market about 1 year (or more) after other competitors' entry. First, the HW/SW must be solid. The pricing has to be competitive, and the service network has to be there (capacity, locations) to support it. Unlike the early Air and Gravity owners who out up with a lot...

    Will Lucid take Cosmos reservations?

Pre-production hype and taking reservations is a tow-edge sword. Q: didn't Tesla take reservation on the CyberTruck? And how did that turn out?

No disagreement on Lucid's range and efficiency being ahead of competition. My only caveat is that Lucid's "specs" are based on EPA 5-cycle testing and realizable range and efficiencies on US Interstate diving (70-75mph) are typically 15-20% lower on both the Gravity and Air. Gravity's fast...

I agree the Gravity (2 of them) are the most efficient EVs on that (Maine to Key West) race. The Gravity had the best spec in terms of mi/kWh and charging speed. Yet, the margin of victory was only about 6% (time to finish) amongst the top 6 finishers (including the Rivian). On the I-90 race...

I get all the above what you are saying. As I noted before, the reason why I bought my 2022 AGT was its claimed range and efficiency. I DO believe that Lucid's power train is well engineered and most efficient. But my personal experience shows that Lucid's claimed range and efficiency is...

I have nothing against geeky power train. I love that stuff. For your reference, I bought my 2022 Lucid AGT because of efficiency and power train. that said, Lucid's survival is on the line. Aside from production and sourcing you cited, service is also a huge problem. All of these are ahead...

I hope so! Inasmuch as I am a geek like many of you. I don't think more geeky power train innovation is going to save the day. Lucid is broken as a business. Ithas good bones, but its execution and dependencies (SW, HW, Service, PIF-dependency) conspire against its own goals.
