Right to Appraisal -- what is it and when to use it

Many carriers are silently removing this feature on policies without notifying their insureds. The collision repair industry has been working hard to make it mandatory for any auto policy, but that requires legislation. Washington and Texas both recently had this added into their insurance...

QUESTION Comps question in total loss (options and carfax help)?

Should you be dissatisfied with their offer, definitely consider using right to appraisal to force them to hire an independent appraiser (along with you hiring one as well) to determine a more reasonable settlement. If you need a recommendation for an appraiser, shoot me a DM or an email and...

    What to expect from insurance

Given the large disparity between the 2 quotes, the shop is likely going to have trouble getting that approved. You, as the vehicle owner, should hopefully have the right to appraisal on your policy, which can be enacted in the event that the insurance refuses to budge on their price. Each...

Door Seal Gap - How to fix?

To echo everyone else, the seals are considered one time use in the service manual because of the double-sided tape they use. We use 3M Adhesion promoter wipes when we install these (which is often), and that ensure the surface is clean and the adhesive gets a strong bite.

    How to change Headlight

Anyone can access the Lucid techinfo portal, pay the subscription fee, and get into the service manual. In terms of the complexity and engineering of the vehicle, that's a different story. We've had to invest significantly in tooling to be able to service these cars at our facility.

    How to change Headlight

Yes, the front bumper must be removed, but as much as I applaud you wanting to take this on yourself, a new headlight will not power on without being coded to the car with the Lucid diagnostic software. If you have LiDAR or front facing cameras, other calibrations will also be needed after...

    Delamination

The roof bow is held on to the glass roof with a lot of very thick urethane. The bead is almost 1" wide, by about 5-6mm tall and runs around the perimeter of the bow. UV exposure would not cause that to lift, but if the urethane is no longer bonded properly to the roof glass panel and it's...

RESOLVED Glass Canopy in Platinum : Rear Bow Piece Section has Imperfection / Defect.

You might want to stop in one of the Lucid certified body shops in your area and see if they can carefully wet sand that edge and remove the build up, and then polish the area.

West Coast Customs x Lucid - GTP - Wow!

Did they calibrate all the driver assistance systems and cameras after they put the car back together? I only ask as Lucid advised us certified shops that wraps diminish the strength/effectiveness of the radar units in the corners of the bumper.

Engraved vin on car body ?

The frunk trim and tub will need to be removed in order to see one of the etched VINs if the windshield VIN is not sufficient.

    San Diego Service Center

That's the old Progressive service center (which thank god was deemed illegal and forced to shut down). Basically, it was a facility that Progressive would intake damaged vehicles, partially take them apart (Progressive employees), and then triage them out to other body shops. The car would get...

    Rear brake light lens

The lower trunk panel has to be removed first in order to take the lamp out. This panel is extremely difficult to remove without ripping the tabs off the back. And because that trunk outer panel has to come off, a surround view camera calibration must also be performed. This would be best left...

SoCal Next Lucid & Lattes combined with SoCal EVFest 2025 in Long Beach on Sat. 5/31/25

It was great meeting some of you and reconnecting with those that came by my shop! I wish my booth was closer to where you all were parked, but it was still a great event overall.

Service experience for those around Pasadena

Most of my customers are going to Beverly Hills for servicing, and then down to Costa Mesa if Beverly Hills is too busy. I do know that Lucid is actively scouting locations in LA for another service center.

PSA - watch out for driveways/potholes

I see this type of damage probably more than anything else on the Lucids we repair in my facility. Common symptoms that can come up after bottoming out hard in a pothole or striking a curb/driveway is that the A/C stops working, and faults begin to display on the cluster regarding the turn...

    Lucid Air Crash-DMV

Judging by the plastic wrap and the front end being dismantled--I would venture to say that's a total loss that was already processed at a body shop making it's way to a salvage auction house like Copart or IAA.

SoCal Next Lucid & Lattes combined with SoCal EVFest 2025 in Long Beach on Sat. 5/31/25

I will be posted up there with a booth and possibly a vehicle next to it. Looking forward to meeting more Lucid owners!

    Collision Repair Troubles

As someone who deals with Allstate every day on Lucids, there is a way around it, but the shop needs to be willing to share the invoicing that Lucid provides us with the insurer, or at the minimum direct the Allstate adjuster to one of the collision program directors. The major software...

    Replacement Headlight Glass and Windshield

The roof canopy glass (as Lucid calls it) is about $1600, excluding urethane, labor, and calibrations. I have seen this job typically end up in the $4000 range. The headlights are about $1000 each and require removal of the front bumper assembly and upper light bar.
