Bye Lucid Air and Another Dear Lucid... Letter

This ↑↑↑. I am about to buy my 3rd BEV. It is the 5th, if I count the cars I got for my daughter and son-in-law. In 4 years so far, I have had 0 unplanned service visits and 1 scheduled (a brake fluid flush). And my sole BEV service encounter was smooth and easy. My daughter had 0 service...

Lucid Gravity UX 3.6 is here!

I’m not even talking about “4D” radar. I’m talking about just basic side-to-side resolution. I don’t think the Gravity, or any modern car, has much lateral resolution. Gravity descriptions seem like ordinary, basic radar. This is why it is so limiting today.

Lucid Gravity UX 3.6 is here!

Does the Gravity have high resolution radar? If not, in the context of this thread, the theoretical existence is moot. I don’t think this is as prevalent as you think it is. Automotive radar has limited spatial resolution. Maybe someday, but I doubt high-resolution radar is at play here. The...

Lucid Gravity UX 3.6 is here!

It seems like the radar takes too long to lock Do these actually exist in high-volume retail automobiles? I’m pretty sure current automotive radar tech is a brute force cudgel.

Lucid Gravity UX 3.6 is here!

What I mean is that radar "sees" everything, but it cannot know where it is left, right, up, or down relative to your position. It generally just knows that objects are in front of you at relative speeds and distances, but not spacial positioning. Radar beams are not easily steerable, like...

Lucid Gravity UX 3.6 is here!

Yeah, the major challenge of radar is that it cannot “see” the position of stationary objects, just that something unmoving is in front of you somewhere. Only camera and Lidar can see positions of objects in your path.

Real-world experience with Lucid NACS Home Charging Station and non-Lucid EVs?

It is not so much a "better," but just different priorities... For low-voltage AC charging, 3-phase is nice because it can deliver more power (22 kW) with less current. So installations are easier, but only if your home happens to have 3-phase power. On the other hand, the CCS2 connector is...

Real-world experience with Lucid NACS Home Charging Station and non-Lucid EVs?

There are four different DCFC standards across the globe. EU forced its standard much earlier than US, so they may have simply chosen the best available at the time, because at the time, I don't think that NACS had been given as an open standard. No clue why China and Japan chose their...

WINDSHIELD REFLECTIONS ( Dash & HUD)

It seems that the HUD has two separate problems. One is the software that they contracted an expert vendor to fix. The other seems to be the physical hardware that causes distracting reflections on the windshield. This may need a major physical unit revision & replacement to resolve.

    ACC could be smoother

This is the exact same with every BEV I have driven. It seems that nobody has figured out a smooth way to handle cruise disengagement when OPD regen is active.

    Is Lucid styling the problem?

Great point. And the Vistiq. I forgot about those.

    Is Lucid styling the problem?

Not in the least. I was responding to a sentiment that the Gravity outperforms the Macan. It doesn't. It is not even close. But I never expected it to out-perform something like a Macan. The Gravity handles amazingly well for its size and weight. The braking is especially crazy good for its...

    Apple Key coming to Lucid

The Lucid app also needs a path to install the digital key in the Apple Wallet.

    QUESTION Prospective buyer questions

Never heard of Delivrd until now, and it is super intriguing. I bought my last car from a broker, and I figured out there are generally two kinds of services. One is a broker that has a standing relationship with several dealerships and pre-established pricing. They do not negotiate, because...

    Is Lucid styling the problem?

Could be... The car I drove did not have SSP, so the associate let me play with SSP in another car on the lot. I plan to do another round of drives on all the cars I am considering before I pull the trigger. I was more surprised by the higher frequencies than the bass. The system just does not...

    Is Lucid styling the problem?

I'll start with my caveat: I think the Gravity is truly an amazing car and accomplishment. I feel like you and I must have driven and listened to vastly different cars... I had some free time after my Gravity Demo Drive, and the Porsche dealer was about a mile away. So I went straight over to...

    Is Lucid styling the problem?

Ummmmmm. I used the phrases "me," "mine," "I," many times in describing that ranking. It is clearly not meant to be objective but personal to me and my preferences in the differentiators to me that set the cars apart. And as I commented in one or two posts above, if Lucid fixes the...

    Is Lucid styling the problem?

Thanks for all the follow-up... The HUD conundrum is interesting. GM chose Envisics, and it was a colossal fail. Porsche touts an advanced AR HUD from WayRay, but my test drive car did not have the option. There are few like this on the road. I know the fob is supplied by Marquardt, that is...

    Is Lucid styling the problem?

You put words in my mouth, so I will take another spin at a response... I love the car. I just dislike the current state of the car's software. (My 99%/1% point way above.) I can observe, in present day, without any hindsight knowledge of the past, that the Gravity appears to have more software...

    Is Lucid styling the problem?

I’ve seen a few posts that the fob is better since 3.6, but still several more that still have issues. I think they’re close. I believe PaaK is more secure than a fob. I expect fob batteries to last years, not months. I have not replaced my current fob batteries in over 2.5 years. I have only...
