Cars at the Station - Detroit, September 11 - 12

Anyone else in the SE Michigan / NW Ohio planning on attending the Cars at the Station event? Cars at the Station I received an email from Lucid detailing some of the Lucid activity around the event, including a coffee shop meet-up and a drive-in caravan to have as many Lucid vehicles parked...

2026 Lucid Air Charge Curve Improvements?

Well, I'm not an electrical engineer (though I'm married to one) but it seems to have something to do with "headroom". The capacity above what is required. I previously had an Equinox EV. Its maximum charging speed is 150 kW. It charged much faster at EA 350kW chargers than at EA 150 kW...

2026 Lucid Air Charge Curve Improvements?

Wouldn't the EVSE have some contribution in this? 350 kW charger vs 400kW charger for example? Plus load managed by CPO or not?

Owners are waiting, please do the right thing!

Two absolutely factual occurrences within my long (and storied?) career in the auto industry... In the late 1980s I was an Engineer in Powertrain Service Operations at General Motors. One of my early big projects was to set up the powertrain service program for the Corvette ZR1. Some elements...

Owners are waiting, please do the right thing!

What evidence does anyone have that Lucid is doing this? My understanding is that Lucid WILL brick a car that INSURANCE has declared a total loss. Reflecting back to the Rich Rebuilds scenario, including the other guy he interviewed that purchased a salvage vehicle we only know what has happened...

    Kim Java - Preview Gravity?

True dat. But personally I wouldn't want to be involved with a company that didn't have the capability of accurately assessing and mitigating those risks or the cajones to put up or shut up.

While it's tempting to assume that Model Y = Model Y = Model Y, that is far from the truth. Tesla's record of making small and large changes without announcement or model year change is incredible. Big changes were made in 2022, 2023, and 2025. Ours is a late 2023 and it is actually a very nice...

    Kim Java - Preview Gravity?

When you say "not bad" and "was much worse..." are you talking about the vehicles in total or specifically FSD? If FSD, do you have knowledge of the update vintage of FSD that was on the vehicle? FSD versions pre-14.2.x can be straight trash. Our Y is on 14.3.7 and is actually very very good.

Look at it this way... How many of us have had this conversation more than a dozen times? Rando: Wow! Cool car! What is it? Me: It's a Lucid Air Grand Touring Rando: Wow. Lucid...who makes it? Me: Lucid Rando: Who are they? Kim Java's channel is viewed by millions. If nothing else those...

Test vehicles are all over the road in the Detroit area. I've also been told by people in Florida and California that they have seen them too. Unlike most test or prototype vehicles, GM is very transparent about what these vehicles are and what they are doing. I can't get through a full week...

Is hands free limited to limited access highways

I just drove from Detroit to Hilton Head Island and back. Just a nick under 900 miles each way. Much of the drive each way was using DDP Hands-free. Only reason I was able to make both drives with no overnight stop. DDP offered hands-free on most of the highways. Even in construction zones...

I had an Equinox EV FWD. It was a solid little SUV and more energy efficient than our Model Y. Just FYI - Lyriq is RWD biased, not FWD. 2025 Optiq is FWD biased. 2026 - 27 Optiq are RWD biased. Chevy Blazer had options for both RWD and FWD bias but I think they recently canceled the FWD biased...

Should I get the lucid home charger or something else?

Part of the reason I installed the Iyilo. I can set start and stop time. I can also get detail on cost per charge and export the data into Excel. In Southeast Michigan my rates are $0.45 peak, $0.17 off-peak, so I set it to charge 11:30 pm to 6:30 am. Our off-peak starts at 7 pm so our Tesla is...

Should I get the lucid home charger or something else?

I did that for awhile too. Then my mobile charger started acting silly. Would start and stop multiple times during the night. The record is just over 100 times. o_O Still waiting to hear from Lucid on warranty coverage of a replacement. So I went out and bought an Iyilo charger. Tom Monoghney...

Detroit to Hilton Head Island: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly (plus the weird and the wacky)

I think that would have been helpful had I not had a big airdrag on the top of the car. The bikes really screwed up the aero big time.
