I still like Lucid, the new color is nice, the range, and community are helpful. However, no way am I buying new after I saw all the AGT for sale that cost no more than an AT new. The resale is low and the market has spoken on the value. I'll grab a used Air for cheap at the current rate, shame, but the market is what it is. This is just my opinion and my choice with my money. You guys decide for yourself, but I have seen this before.

It really depends on if you locked in the Touring at $95K or the new price of $107K. That's the difference for me. If I can find a GT in Zenith Red/Santa Cruz/21" Aero Blade at sub $120K I would pull the trigger. The massage seats literally mean that much to me. HP and range are less important.

Problem is so many people bought these cars to flip them when prices were rising and interest rates were low. Now there are over 60 used AGT's listed for sale and the used market is saturated and interest rates are rising so its forcing used prices down.

I also cancelled my touring reservation. Would rather pay 120k for a loaded GT than 100k for a touring (I had the pre July increase pricing too)

I bet the Pure will hold its value well but I might be wrong given the fact that we are in a recession.

If the final product is well produced, I agree the Pure should hold it's value in relative terms. The GT, even depreciated, is still 120K+ (and that price is still the exception to the rule) and is completely out of reach for most folks. If you're in the market for a loaded Touring, yeah, I'd be looking at a used GT, too - but I actually like the additional legroom in the back even though I don't plan on sitting back there. But a used GT is still 30k+ more than a loaded pre-price increase Pure, and 20k+ more than a post-price increase Pure. So I could definitely see the spillover from loaded Touring to used GT, but that's about where the cutover stops.

Holy depreciating asset Batman!

The days of cars holding value or appreciating ended when the supply chain improved. We are now back to the way it has always been. Buy new if you want the new car experience. If you want to save money, buy used.

Have never bought a vehicle thinking I would come out making money. The pandemic changed that thought-process a bit with used cars selling for more than new but as the supply chains loosen up, and the economy on the brink of recession, this too shall pass. Buy the car for its enjoyment. If you prefer to save a few bucks with a used car.. GO FOR IT! As your said, your money, your choice. Absolutely. When the time comes to sell this Lucid, I will have hopefully gotten more than my money's worth of enjoyment out of it. Yolo.

Okay.

Seems like a solid gamble to expect the exterior and interior color combination you want to pop up for sale used at the price point you feel is a good deal. After burning through not one but two cars during college, my days of buying used are over. You have no idea how the car has been driven, maintained, and/or issues from ownership.

Is 5k, 10k, or even more all that important in the grand scheme of things versus getting exactly what you want? You cannot take money to the grave or buy time.

Yes, Fed’s rising interest rate curb speculative activities. Equity market is down, cryptos is down, and even auto resale market is down. It’s good they bring it down, it puts inflation under control. I cringed away when I see Tesla used cars get sold higher and higher than the Tesla new cars. Now things are starting to be back to normal to bring down prices.

Thanks for sharing, I guess. I thought you moved on from Lucid long ago based on your previous posts about the car, company, etc……

If we take a long term point of view like 10 to 15 years, the depreciation per yr will not be felt as much but that said the best value for the money for me has been my Lexus certified LS 430 2006 $30k on the road vs 80k new I bought in 2012 and still worth 10k. 15 yrs from now if I am still driving, I would seriously consider certified used EV.

You don’t but a car to make money. If you do, you got lucky but it’s a depreciating asset the moment you drive it from the showroom.

I think a number of people may have got caught out thinking Lucid would be in extremely high demand like the Rivian and be able to make a quick buck off if and it backfired on them. I’ve got no sympathy for people in that scenario as they got caught out for being greedy.

I was laughing on mine too. Oh well, Utah welcome your purchase to enhance public goods and services. 😊

Sounds like a lot of overthinking on this...cars drop in value and that's what is being seen. Plus some probably dont like the car and are moving on. OK. But i do wonder if some on the market are early products what caused the owners a lot of heartburn and they had second thoughts. I think Id rather go with current production. Dollars vaporized in any event. Oh well. We all do what we are comfortable with and dont have to look back.
