Finally received notice that my DA has shipped

I think the bigger question is why are these hardware problems occurring in the first place and not picked up by QC immediately? Between software issues, trunk alignment issues and now hardware issues, it's really sounding more and more like experiences with Tesla. Obviously Lucid's customer service appears to be far better, but short of that the lines between Tesla experiences and Lucid are beginning to blur.

That was the point I was really trying to make. Should the Service Center at delivery really be where these problems are being discovered

You both seem to be correct but in my opinion no matter how good a new company is trying to be with quality there are bound to be mistakes and problems that come up that weren’t foreseeable. I also believe that Lucid was in a rush to get all the DE delivered before year end and that rushing has clearly caused quality issues. The bright star that many owners have pointed out is that they want to make it right!! That quality should help Lucid create loyalty and trust with its current and future customers.

I’m the other one with last minute “issues”.

The sales center seemed annoyed that I called to check on status yesterday and promised me an update by this afternoon. I’ll be calling them insisting on an update, as they have my money and my car now :(. I expect to at least be told what is wrong

I do agree you should be told what the problem is with your vehicle….I have to say that lack of timely communication has been a big problem and I really cannot understand the reason why…we humans seem to assume the worst when we don’t have information and the way to alleviate that is to provide details and take responsibility for actions

I think the communication could be a little bit better. I mean any new car is gonna have issues that don't come to light until there are more cars out there. Especially from a company that's just starting out in the business. Just look at all the issues from well established car companies that introduce a new model or a redesign of an old model. There are always "first run" issues.

I think it's more about being open about it, and what they do to remedy it. Would it be a different scenario if the car was still at the factory waiting for the fitment issue or is it the fact that it's at the studio just within reach and you can't get it that makes it worse?

Can’t agree more….I have never had a previous experience paying for a vehicle and waiting so long to receive it…but I have never bought a Tesla in the past so I don’t know what’s normal. I suspect because of the urgency to get all cars out last year caused a lot of unfortunate and not optimal outcomes. Clear and honest communication of what to expect and not expect would have softened the blow to many of the DE owners.

I’ll be honest - that’s weird. The folks at Millbrae have always been super nice and I don’t think I’ve ever had any interaction with them that I could describe as them being “annoyed.”

I wonder what’s going on with your car.

They may be annoyed at being put in the very position you describe, having your money and your car and not being able to deliver. I might be annoyed to if I had the perception that the buck was being passed to me unnecessarily. If I was the delivery center and was shipped a product that was not in shape to leave the factory and left to deal with the customer, I might be annoyed to, but never should that project to the customer, never. Lack of communication is just unacceptable. It leaves us to make conjectures that may, or may not, be appropriate. I would much rather deal with bad news than no news. At least with bad news, certain expectations are set on how to deal with it.

I was told it was software issues that apparently needed patches to get corrected and then I was told it needed some HVAC part…I haven’t heard anything since Wednesday evening (my delivery advisor in Tysons Corner) when I received a call updating me on the issues and to let me know the new issue of waiting for part…I wasn’t given an expected time of completion or arrival.

Hi gmoney, will you post once you got it? I'm a later reservation but also in Chicago, I am curious how long it takes to ship from factory to Chicago. I even considered picking up the car in AZ for a fun road trip which I was told was an option.

Yes I will post but I am not in Chicago I am in northern Virginia…Chicago I am told is the location where cars pass through pre delivery to East coast…I am not exactly sure which cars pass through that area.

I had a friend in Virginia that received his DE last weekend and it was lighting fast to get from Arizona to Chicago and then to the DC area…he offered to come to Arizona to pick it up and they implied that wouldn’t work…something gets checked or has to happen to the vehicles after they leave factory…they used phrases like “pre delivery inspection”

I'm in Maryland and mine came overnight from Chicago. Yours should come quickly as soon as they tell you they have loaded it for delivery. I know you have been waiting for a while now. :-(

Got confirmation a few hours ago: it will be ready tomorrow. Some part was leaking that they were able to diagnose and correct.

I’m looking forward to seeing more beautiful new Airs!
