2022 Lucid Grand Touring
Hi,

Lucid changed the batteries on my 2022 Lucid Grand Touring last year and I never get more than 270 mile range even at 100% -- they say every thing is fine --- does this sound right?

I have the larger rims which they say brings it down 10% - I've been running tests not driving too fast slower acceleration and still nothing close to 300

I live in Florida so its not cold weather -- does 275 mile range sound right? I told them to keep the car until they do something

Greg

How fast do you drive? On a 2022 Air GT with 19" wheels, at 75mph I typically get about 350 miles range. Speed makes a huge difference.

Wasn’t it rated at 516 on 19s? Yes, less on 21s but still way more than 300.

What’s your Miles per KW? That’s all that matters. I think the real average is around 3, so with some bling wheels I’ll assume around 2.5-2.8

It all depends on how fast you drive, and in Florida, rain.

Ill check the miles per kw - speed varies most is local traffic

It sounds like there is something amiss with your car.

It sounds like they installed a battery pack belonging to an Air Pure intstead. By mistake of course. Fo

I had my battery replaced about a year into owning my Sep-2022 build Air GT. I've clocked enough miles by now to know that for me to get only 270 miles in range would mean that I'd have to be driving in excess of 85 mph to 90 mph all day long.

Its possible during cold month, on big wheels and speeds above 80mph it will get 270 miles. Are you really running it 100-0 or just basing it against the trip computer once you have used about 115kwh?

I was trying to figure out the same thing as I'm getting about the same range even setting you dream drive pro. Averaging about 3.4 kw I thought the Lucid Air is supposed to be efficient but it hasn't been.

I average 3.1 to 3.2 while driving like a grandmother. An 80 to 20% split yields 180 to 200, far below the 512 rating on my 2022 GT with 19-inch wheels. I believe this car can reach the 512 figure, but only rarely. I feel the real-world rating should top out at 400; anything higher is a bonus, while anything lower reflects environment or driving habits.

Achieving the rated number feels like winning a lottery for me.

P.S., I have reached slightly above the rated range, but those were brief samples rather than a full run. Also, the difference between my grandmother-style and teenager-style driving was only 0.4 to 0.5%.This make me believe this cars are over rated on a too closed cycles not a real world range.

My intention is continue my own grandpa-like driving, which is typically 63 mph on the highway (multiple reasons I’ve chosen that speed), with gentle acceleration and smart use of regen all around.

To be sure, I’ll use the horsepower when I need it, but I chose the GT for its advertised range in support of long-haul trips. I certainly won’t be driving it in a way that mimics the testing that led to its EPA rating, but I do hope to achieve a very comfortable 400+ after break-in.

I would think that driving at 63mph, assuming no significant elevation changes, no strong winds, etc) you should get somewhat close.

As a point of reference, my Air is a Touring on 20" wheels (set to 45psi), with an EPA range of 377mi, which comes out to an EPA efficiency of 4.09mi/kWh on a 92kWh battery.

Normally I have a pretty lead right foot in an area with 70-80mph speed limits, and hot enough to require AC on 8-9 months of the year, and my lifetime average is about 3.15mi/kWh.

Last night I wasn't in a hurry so I did a bit of an impromptu efficiency test on a 25 mile round trip I was making. The weather was a rare mid-60s so I had outside air on with AC turned off.

I basically stayed in the right hand lane. Most of the trip was between 55-65mph, with a couple miles at 70. I kept acceleration gentle on the short parts of the trip that were on surface streets. I put regen on low for the highway portions, and bumped it to high for the surface street portions.

When I got home my efficiency for the trip was 4.15mi/kWh.

Obviously this was fairly ideal conditions with no wind and no need for the AC to be running, but it IS possible to get the rated range if you drive like a granny .

Sweet. That's nice to see.

Yesterday, a VIN was assigned to my AGT order. I'm getting closer!
