I wonder:

I have a 2022 AGT. I purchased it in October 2022.

As such, my 4-year warranty expires this month.

I made an appointment to do my 4 year maintenance and to install CCCV2. However, the SC couldn't service me until Dec 1.

Q: Should the SC service my vehicle under warranty?

Thoughts?

No, but then neither the annual maintenance nor the CCCv2 upgrade are warranty work, so it doesn't matter, you'd be paying for that service anyway.

You'll still be under warranty for any battery or motor issues until 100k miles or 8 years though.

You are missing my point:

> I will have to pay for CCV2 one way or the other. That's not what I am asking.
> the question is:
...if they find something that WOULD HAVE BEEN covered under warranty. However, LUCID SC couldn't schedule me till Dec 1, even though I asked for a service appointment in September, would they cover THOSE items?

I scheduled my service back in September.

I think that is a current bet running on Kalshi Prediction Market. I think the odds are 40 they will and 60 they won’t. 😀

Ok, but your post didn't say that at all. I answered the text that was in the post.

As for the newly clarified question, my expectation would be that if you notified Lucid and made the appointment for that specific problem before the warranty ended, you should be covered.

But if it's a problem you didn't even know about until after the warranty ended, then I wouldn't generally expect it to be covered, unless it's super obvious it was already broken well before the warranty ended, but I wouldn't depend on that being the case for anything they find.

Anything else would depend on the company deciding to make an exception for you.

To the extent that errors/deviations are logged (dated), the question RE: when did the error occur can be traced. If the date of the error is prior to the expiration of the warranty, it should be covered.

Interesting point:

Let me raise an "absurd point" for contemplation:

> I try to schedule a regular maintenance appointment with Lucid, but itis only avialble 6 months out.
> at the time I made the appointment, there was no known error.
> sometime between when I scheduled my maintenance appointment and the actual appointment, my 4-year warranty lapsed. And now I have an error that requires attention and would have been covered if the car is under warranty.

Then what?

I have usually tried to schedule service close to end of warranty for same reason as OP. The SC may notice something wrong while doing service and get it repaired under warranty. They might get the car up on a lift and notice a coolant leak that you haven’t noticed. But then that is under a normal dealer model where the dealer is motivated to find covered repair issues since they will get reimbursed from manufacturer. In Lucid’s case, the SC is not motivated to find an issue that Lucid would have to cover. “Sorry, this happened after warranty expired, that will be $3000 please.”

Exactly!

To be clear, I am NOT baiting you guys. I don't have a known problem per se. But, as @Bdr100 correctly articulated, I haven't crawled underneath the car to check everything.

If maintenance can be scheduled AND SERVICED BY LUCID within the warranty time frame, then there is no debate. Reality is LUCID's backlog relegates maintenance appointments months out. Hence the "Twilight Zone".

I am in similar situation with a 2022 GT warranty expiring in December. I was able to get a late November service date but was ‘told’ that if they found something during a service scheduled prior to expiration, it would be covered even if the service came after the end date. Of course your results may vary. Who knows these days.

There is another thread with similar circumstances. The person noticed issues but put off repair for a few months. Unfortunately, when he went to schedule service, the first available fell a few days outside the warranty period. He was understandably upset. He has appealed to the SC manager but the repair has not been completed and he is unsure whether he'll end up paying out or pocket or not.

If notified or detected prior to end of warranty, it will be covered even if service date is after warranty end. Scottsdale service confirmed this. Unfortunately, my 4 year service date could only be booked after the end of my warranty. If any issues come up, I’ll add them to the ticket as warranty repair.

Just as a point of comparison, the primary reason I'm not still driving a BMW X3M40i is due to a fairly similar situation. It didn't involve a delay in getting service, but the engine cratered less than 30 days after the CPO warranty ended, and the nature of it was obvious that it had already been a problem they should have seen the last time I brought it in for an oil change. They not only didn't cover it, the dealership lied through their teeth and BMw corporate want interested in helping out doing anything about it. I ended up taking a $12k loss to get rid of the vehicle, which was better than the $32k they wanted me to pay to fix it. And then I've vowed that BMW will never get another dime from me, and that I would always advise people against buying from them.

So aside from the fact that there's not really anything to be gained by bringing up hypothetical edge cases, even IF Lucid didn't cover the issue in that make up situation, it's not like it's any worse than established luxury carmakers do.

If your intent was to schedule service to have Lucid perform a forensic examination for any hidden warranty issues, that should have probably been planned several months out. If you haven't experienced a problem prior to the expiration of your warranty I'm not sure you have a compelling argument that it should be covered if it's "discovered" after the warranty expires.

I suspect that the SC will honor the warranty. Since my Air has been out of warranty, I have had a couple of things covered by goodwill and and a couple of things that they reasonably charged for. Scottsdale is pretty good about this.
