Navigation System “BUG”

The navigation system has a significant issue when there is road construction on the highway -specifically when traffic is routed to the other side of the highway. For example, you are headed west bound and the west bound traffic is routed over to the east bound side creating two-way traffic on that side for a period of road construction. The system determines you have left the original route and starts repeating ‘recalculating’ over and over endlessly until the car is routed back over to the correct side of the highway. It’s very annoying. If you try to turn the volume down, it’s tricky because the nav software overlays any music playing and you end up turning down your music.

I've had that happen with apple maps too. Probably best to just stop guidance until you are back on the right side of the highway

Simply mute the Nav voice for the duration. That's what I do and it leaves music, phone, whatever untouched.

Thanks.. That’s pretty much what we did and do.. but, i have to say I don’t like fiddling with the controls while driving in a two way traffic, narrow, road under construction setting. I haven’t seen this occur with Apple Maps but will give that a try to confirm. It shouldn’t be rocket science to update the software to recognize the situation. And I would expect the Driver assistance software will ultimately need this resolved.. Curious if anyone has seen this with Tesla FSD?

What are the alternatives?

I’m actually glad the NAV system detects position to that degree of accuracy. Rerouting is better than the NAV system detecting you are on the wrong side of the freeway and happily directing you to drive the wrong way on a major freeway!

I don’t know of any mapping/nav system, Google, Apple, Waze, etc., that gets real-time information on rapidly changing construction zone configurations.
