Lucid support in decline?

Despite my current problems with our older Gravity, I would still give my four+ years of dealing with Lucid service an "A". I can't say that about some of the other car brands I've dealt with over the years.

I have a new variable I think may be causing (or at least in my case) differences in quality of service: distance from SC.

I had horrible trouble at all 3 services centres I've been referred to (I live hundreds of miles away from all 3...who are still the closest I have). All 3 have behaved in the exact same manner: give one suggestion in the first correspondence, then ghost.

I assume they think of me out of sight/out of mind since I can't just show up. The last one HQ put me in contact with (Natick) gave me one suggestion to try the dream drive pro (then suggested that I didn't have it...which I do)..then ignored my email. I've emailed them once a week with one line to "follow up" on the information they requested from me and I've heard nothing from them at all in 3 weeks. It was the exact same thing as the others. So I'd have to go back to HQ, refer me to another SC and the whole process starts again.

Again, love the car. Would NEVER buy one again based on support and software. I really wanted this car to just work and the company to just work.

so....update...I think Lucid is reading these forums

I got an email about 20-30 minutes after I posted this, directly from Lucid about my issues...they asked for a log.

They also said I do not have DDPro activated...I told them Montreal, who serviced the vehicle, said I do...they asked for proof..I have the call recorded..but I called Montreal back and spoke to both an advisor and a tech...both confirmed and connected to the car and said I have it (and all 2022 GTs in Canada have it activated as it wasn't a subscription service then)...they don't know why it's not activating at all (and I have the DDPro hands free options in the console).

So good news/bad news....good: they are actively checking again. Bad news: still doesn't work and no clue on what the solution is.

It must be a Lucid thing to verify the evidence, no matter how incontrovertible.
When I was having issues with the navigation, I took plenty of videos to show the folks at the SC.
But that's apparently not sufficient because they wanted to see the problems themselves.
The manager took a 40-minute ride with me, all the way from the SC to my house to witness all the things I'd documented in a few 30-second clips.
Problems confirmed and onto the next steps.
The whole things was not a problem for me since we're only 20 minutes from the SC, but the distance from your place to the SC is a real challenge.
I do remember your posts about mobile visits, though. Didn't they see and document the problems when they're there?

Do you really think brands like Toyota or Honda will take a lot of time looking for a problem that they can't replicate? My son has a Honda extended warranty. His touch screen sometimes goes wonky where it will start switching radio stations like someone is touching the screen. Eventually it will stop and won't happen for another week or two. My son has taken videos of the issue and taken it in but was told "sorry, we can't replicate the problem and everything seems to work fine." AND they charged him a diagnostic fee since they didn't find a problem.

I don't think that the people at the Lucid SC are incompetent or uncaring, they just seem overwhelmed by the volume of cars and backlog. They really need to increase their service network before introducing more cars. When you sell high end vehicles, people have expectations on service and post sale treatment.

Agree with the Toyota and Honda comment. But Lucid at this point depends a lot on world of mouth and recommendations as their main marketing tool since brand awareness remains low. That's why us owners are sort of brand ambassadors, and in my case (purely based on my personal experience) I am not recommending it when asked. So, Service experiences matter at this point.

People ask me what the car is all the time. It’s know around my neighborhood as a lemon already since it’s been towed off and back a few times. When people ask me I just say it’s a nice car with a lot of problems.

My experience with service is the people are nice, the parts have constant issues, they seem to have virtually no QC process (or it’s not followed) and the turnover must be unreal. Service has to be the worst place to work in Lucid since they’re basically expected to deliver sold cars, fix the constant factory issues, keep customers happy and fix all the broken existing cars. It’s an operational disaster and I feel bad for them. I’m not even convinced they can recover.

Quick questions related to service: I'm coming up on 1 year with my Air. Do we have to affirmatively reach out to schedule the 1 year or does Lucid? Assuming the former? There are no service slots on the app here in Miami for months out. Also, what is the cost for the yearly service (first one) if any? I'm leasing.

Call service to schedule...

I've been ghosted by the Millbrae service center for months. I called lucid customer care last month after not hearing back from them about the damage they did to my car when replacing the windshield. I was told by them (literal conversation), "you need to speak to the service center, as we do not have any connections with how each service center operates". ..i said, "really.. so what customer care do you provide?"... "we support the ownership process, and not service".
Customer Care is correct. Why are you waisting your time with them? They didn’t install the windshield. The most they are going to do is document and send you right back to the Service Manager who is going to want to see proof of pictures of your vehicle before you were separated. Had said pictures were in hand you could have sent them to Customer Care to be documented against a case create just incase the DLR didn’t agree to fix the damages. But yeah this is completely on the Service Center.

After four years of excellent service from Lucid Service Centers and mobile techs, the story seems to be shifting.

Our first Gravity (DE #067) has been fraught with problems. The front drive unit, the steering wheel, and the HUD have all been replaced. But a series of problems that are rare or unique to this car based on forum posts persists.

The navigation system sometimes shows the car in woods or in lakes hundreds of yards off the road. The satellite map sometimes starts spinning rapidly back and forth. The GPS geofencing doesn't work for Homelink, although it does in our Air and in our other Gravity. The right 12-18" of the dashboard LED Vive lighting has a mind of its own, either coming on at night when the car is in Drive and it should be blacked out, and/or it stays bright white while the color is changed on the rest of the LED light strips or the intensity is dialed down. Two different Service Centers have had problems downloading software to the car. Sometimes windows move in the opposite direction from the switch.

Also, after a recent tire change the suspension is not level, with the left side being lower. I included this on the list of issues I sent the Service Center, and they said they were going to adjust the sensor settings which can get off when the car is jacked up, even in "jack mode". There is no mention on the work report of that having been addressed. (The car is still at the Service Center, as I have not signed off on the work order yet).

I also asked them to address the issue that when any two of our three Lucids (an Air and two Gravities) are on the road simultaneously, neither will play a music source without pausing every few seconds. This happens when the two cars on streaming from different sources or even when one car is playing music from a USB stick in the front console. They said they could not duplicate this condition. Well, duh. We were on a cruise all week, and no one was driving our other two Lucids which were sitting at home in our garage.

I got the report from the Miami Service Center where the car has been for the past week. They said they could not duplicate any of the problems and therefore could not fix anything. In item after item, they wrote "working as designed". I told them beforehand that these problems (except for Homelink geofencing) are intermittent, even though some episodes have lasted as long as three days and persisted through multiple reboots and sleep cycles. I told them that I suspect there may be an issue in the computer hardware or a chip that may be causing these unusual problems. There was no indication in the work report that they checked any of that out.

In short, they are getting ready to send the car back to us without a damn thing being resolved. This car has already spent weeks in Service Centers, and I no longer believe Lucid is even serious about getting to the bottom of these issues. I'm trying to sort out what to do next. I'm considering lemon lawing the car, but then I would lose the almost $20K I've put into PPF and a radar/laser installation in the car.

Yeah unfortunately, this does not qualify for a BB or Lemon Law. The only thing that would be considered is probably the suspension issue.

Why do you have your car just sitting in the center taking up space they probably don’t have and not getting the work done? Is it out of warranty or not covered?

are you a lawyer?
Hi Sock,

As of May of this year, Yes. (finally!)

BUT! I am also a former Porsche Cars North America, Mercedes Benz USA & Lucid Motors Employee where I served under different depths including Customer Advocacy, Retention, Risk, Arbitration, Legal & Escalations (including Lemon Law Buy Back & Trade) and the fun stuff, Thermal Events & Vehicle Malfunctions.

Pretty much, I know a thing or two about Luxury Vehicles.

I am shocked that you need to “text” Customer Care to get a response.

It defeats the purpose of being a CRM Retaining Tool.

Agents needs to capture your information for correct record keeping and data purposes, not go find text messages threads on random iPhone.

The CustExp. Used to be IN HOUSE with around 15-20 agents on the regular phones (roadside, features, manual and complaints as well as RFID walk throughs and remote lock/unlock track) and maybe about 7 Customer Experience Managers to help with escalations.

All the people I knew are gone now, idk what they have going on now.

They were missing a lot of important processes needed to function though I do remember that.

you realize this thread is 8 months old right? Its almost teething.

I picked the wrong GT. Should have gone with my passion of a 911GT.
Service is one thing (the current 45min hold is what led me here) but this is my 2nd battery at 42K. I have serious doubts about the battery and company.
Will take the depreciation as a lesion and move if I ever get it back........ in shop the past month with no ETA.

Winteroff fired them all to cut costs…glad he is no longer involved.

Battery failures are very rare, but happens to any EV. It’s just like a transmission failure in an ICE car. You just got unlucky.
