Honestly, I don't know who to turn to so I'm just hoping others hear me and we have shared trauma.

After trying for months to get lucid to fix hands free self driving on my car...it worked. For a month and a half.

Now i just passed the 80k KMS (80,200 ish) so the bumper to bumper warranty is done and guess what no longer works? You guessed it.

I've tried deep sleep,I've tried hard reset, I've tried turning on and off the option itself...nothing. on highways where it used to work. It's been like this for a few weeks and I thought it would work itself out (since it was literally 100kms passed the warranty when it stopped working)..but nope. DOA.

This is a joke. Each time I want to love this car, it (and the company) slaps me in the face.

And before it sounds like a first world problem...I still paid for a vehicle to have this working and it should have worked for more than a month and a half. It was supposed to be my road trip car, etc..but finir can't even do that, then what's the point?

I hate to agree with the doomers...but this company is not ready for prime time. I'm so beyond frustrated. I just desperately wanted this to work.

Did you have an open ticket from during the warranty? I “think “ if it was ongoing with work and such being documented, they may need to continue on.

Just a couple baseline questions...not insinuating anything, just checking off the list.
  1. What software version are you running? I think the latest is 2.10.0. Is that what you are on?
  2. Can you confirm that the sensor behind the steering wheel can see your face? Do you have recognition of your face linked to your profile? My understanding is if it cannot make out your face it simply doesn't offer you hands free. Could be wrong, but that's what I've been told.
  3. Does your car have PPF? If so, you may want to make certain that the PPF installer properly cut off the film around the sensors and cameras. I had a situation early in my ownership of my car where it would go into handsfree but it would intermittently fail to execute lane lane change requests. The mobile service tech noticed that some of the sensors still had PPF film over them and that this could be confusing the sensors. Cut off the film from the sensors. No issues since. I can only imagine that the original owner may have been very frustrated by this without ever identifying the root cause.
That's all I got. Hopefully something in that helps you.

I'll try but yes, tons of issues prior to warranty running out

Latest 2.10.0

The sensor is fine. I haven't changed the place of the steering wheel. Hands free actually worked for about 2-3 miles (3-5kms) before just randomly stopping. Normal drive assist (hands on) comes on.

No ppf.

I appreciate it

Update: much like my golf game, this is inconsistent at best. I wrote my post after two days of driving with no hands free for weeks.

Checked out of the hotel day, and guess what decided to work.

I guess managed expectations is the key.

Maybe try adjusting your steering wheel downwards a centimeter and a half just as a test. The face camera may have been only marginally working.
It that doesn't help, ask Service to pull logs from your car and have a look. You'll need to tell them your VIN and a particular time and date that you couldn't get hands free self driving to work.

I have also experienced something similar with my Lucid, and it is definitely frustrating when a feature you rely on suddenly stops working. I’d try a reboot and check for any pending software updates first, but if that doesn’t fix it, Lucid Support should be able to look into whether it’s a software or sensor related issue..

Mine was fixed with replacement of interior monitoring camera.

I have found on my Air that if I go 10 over the speed limit it requires you to keep touching the steering wheel but if I’m closer to the speed limit it is totally hands free. Give it a try!

Use your flashers for a brief moment to make a flag in the logs then report the time and note you did the flasher thing

Just as a reminder that FSD isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, no excuses but fsd isn’t the standard to aim for.

Sad, but true!

Right after 2.10.0 update everything work well for about a month but the language change. Then DDP stop completely to even engage Adaptive Cruise. It did come back sporadically and when it works it works great. I wait about a month hoping for an updated 2.10. X (seeing a bunch of people having problems on this forum) then decided to go with a factory reset. My SC did one about a year ago (while with 2.8.0) trying to fix my language switch problem (no joy) and it take more than 45 minutes because it re-installed all updates from the beginning. SC told me that Lucid was aware of the language downloading failure and was working on it. But with the 2.10.0 update, the software re- install itself in about 5 minutes. Didn't fix my language change (downloading forever) problem but my DDPro works flawlessly since then. Yesterday I did another factory reset to check if they fix the language issue. Was it the car, the software or the server I don't know but it (finally) works. After having selected french display and french Assistant the pop-up says "Intalling New Language" than after ~10 seconds, disappeared. I let it go touching nothing and after ~45 seconds pop-up says "New Language Installed" Yeah ! and now normal talking seems to works better than I remenber when I bought the car in 2024.
Long story short... did you try a factory reset because I'm pretty sure that's what the SC will do. But doing it couple weeks before, you will be able to tell them, (if it didn't fix it) that you already try it and it works or not for "x" times or days. I know it 's a pain in the a.... to redo all your setting but it 's not that long cause most of them are remembered in your Lucid profile as car owner, it is just a matter to recheck and/or confirmed all pages and fonctions. I don't know about other profil cause I only have one.
As a final thought I might be wrong but that's the way I do it, after any factory reset or update before engaging DDP I always "Armed" the Drive assistance while in the middle of a 3 lines highway for 3 to 5 minutes and confirm the car display is in the middle and they see both left and right dash line of the road as well as traffic around and/or passing by then I "Engage" it. For me it is like confirming that "re-learn" DDP has occured.
Wish you the best.
