So, it seems Lucid is continuing production of the Gravity Dream Edition (with a few minor option changes) under the "GT-S" moniker.

This is analogous to what they did with the Air. After Dream Edition production ceased, they produced a GT Performance version for about a year. However, that version was slightly down-powered from the Dream Edition (from 1,111 down to 1,050 hp). The Gravity GT-S, however, has the same 1.070 hp rating as the Gravity Dream Edition . . . and also pretty much the same price once you option it up to the Dream Edition spec.

I'm glad they're doing this, but I wonder why? And I wonder how long it will remain available?
 
The GT-S is cool, but my favorite thing about the vehicle that debuted in Monterey was the color.

Lucid has a lot of room to improve in the paint color department. The only color of the Gravity I like was cancelled before it went into production.

I do wish Lucid offered a wider choice of colors, and I, too, was hoping for a Lunar Titanium Gravity after seeing one in the showroom.

However, we have a Zenith Red Air, Aurora Green and Stellar White Gravities, and had an Abyss Black Gravity that I sadly wrecked. Every one looks pretty darn good. In fact, I and almost everyone who sees the white Gravity are blown away by the muscular vibe it gives off. And almost five years later, I still get questions from onlookers about where I got the Zenith Red.

It's interesting that Lucid replaced the Aurora Green option with the Bronze Metallic for the GT-S, although Aurora Green is a continuing color on the GT. I would understand a unique color option for the top trim, but I don't quite get the logic of offering fewer colors than with lower trims.
 
Lucid absolutely needs brighter colors on their cars. A truly bright red (like the sapphire they unveiled), a blue, a silver. It's confusing to me that most of the Gravity colors are dark, yet "stealth" is standard. Lucid has always gone for a two-tone look to up the luxe feel, but their color choices mean very few vehicles are able to do that.

Yeah, I agree it's a lower-effort way to "do something new" for a new model year. Since more traditional car manufacturers have gotten people used to annual tweaks and updates (and major ones every ~6 years or so), it's hard for car startups to maintain that pace of change when all they're just trying to do for the first few years is hammer out the kinks and scale production. People kept on complaining about Teslas looking/feeling stale after a few years, so maybe Lucid decided that they needed to get in front of it, even if it's just tweaking standard packages and juggling around some colors.
 
I like it - means DE parts will continue to be supplied which may bode well for possible future repairs when needed.

Unlike the Air Dream Performance, which used both a unique battery pack and a unique rear motor with exotic metallurgy, the Gravity uses pretty much standard Lucid power gear. It uses the same battery pack as the GT with the main difference in the models being the Dream's use of the larger GT rear motor on both axles in contrast to the GT which uses a smaller front motor. That's the main reason the price step-up from GT to Dream Edition in the Gravity was about half that between the Air GT and the Air Dream Performance.
 
I noticed when I saw the blue at the Fremont headquarters that the upper trim was not the same stealth as the other trims. Obviously the "gravity" badge is blue, but the whole upper section that is usually either platinum or stealth is darker on the GT-S they have, nearly black.
 
I'm just hopeful the GT-S spec is available when my lease is up - 2 years. I don't want to give up the horsepower! It's INTOXICATING!
