2024 Lucid AIR
I have a 2024 Lucid air I have taken two cracks to the windshield, one was repaired however this one is so large it needs to be replaced, I called Lucid. They told me they only have one certified glass repair place in Scottsdale Arizona, there is a 90 day waiting period for a glass from the factory. Does anybody else have any other ideas? Ridiculous.

In addition, I’ve been told due to my Vin number. They have to do some work on my car told me they will have it in the shop 4 to 5 weeks and will not be able to give me a loaner. What kind of crap is that?

I'm probably the next closest shop to you across state lines, and I don't have wait times aside from Lucid shippping us parts. This job typically takes 4-5 days to complete. Not sure if it's worth it for you to drive that far though.

There are two places in Scottsdale to get your windshield repaired. One is Raintree Autobody where they handle both the glass repair and the ADAS calibration. The other is K&B in coordination with Lucid service (glass by K&B and calibration by Lucid). Raintree is over a $1000 more. If you are having other work done at Lucid service, they should be able to coordinate the windshield at the same time. My repair earlier this year there was no delay in getting glass. I had the replacement done by Lucid/K&B. Service has been changing lately so my information may be out of date.

With respect to the loaner, nicely push back on that since a loaner should be made available to you. What other service are you getting that will take five weeks?

I agree to politely push back on the loaner as the repairs needed sound like recalls since they are VIN based and it "has to be done".

Did they not offer a rental? Do you NEED a loaner?

Is it 4-5 weeks to complete the repair or for Lucid to service the car once they have it? I suspect it's the latter. Either way it's an inordinate amount of time for you to be without your car and not have a loaner. I would push back or escalate the issue.

This is a good illustration of the challenges facing Lucid in meeting their short term objectives. They will often be at odds with one another. Providing loaners, whether they're fleet vehicles or rentals comes at a cost. Not doing so will alienate customers. So for a company whose transformation framework includes improving "cash & cost" and "customer & quality" how will they resolve these conflicts? And what will they do from an execution and implementation standpoint to ensure that all employees know what to do when they run up against these competing objectives? Because the answer can't be "what compromises is the customer willing to make?"

I was told there was something specific about the coolant pumps on my VIN number, in addition I tried to coordinate with the service department windshield change in calibration from an outside company, and I was told the only people authorized to do windshield or any type of glass repair on the Lucid was Raintree autobody, I called them and they are the ones that told me it’ll be mid November that he already had several Lucid air models in front of me, waiting for windshield replacement with OEM parts

Just for context…..

‘Wait times for Hyundai OEM glass replacement typically range from 2 to 5 weeks, though delays stretching to 30 to 45+ days are common if the specific part is on backorder’

‘Special Orders / Backorders: 1 to 3 weeks if the OEM glass for your specific model (especially newer EVs like the EQ series, S-Class, or models with rare acoustic/heated/HUD features) must be sourced from a national warehouse or Europe. [1, 2, 3]

‘Wait times for a genuine BMW OEM windshield typically range from 1 week to 2 months, though delays can stretch to 3 to 4 months if the specific glass is on an international backorder or needs to ship directly from Germany’

It’s like this throughout the industry.

Recently, we have been receiving cracked/broken windshields / roof canopies from Lucid, which may increase the wait time. Casagrande is the only warehouse for the entire country at this time.
Thank you for being such a great resource for the forum 👍

I had a cracked windshield in my BMW iX a few months ago. I had full glass coverage with my insurance. I drove to BMW service (in Beverly Hills). Insurance authorized replacement on a quick phone call to claims while there and the dealership completed the OEM replacement by the next morning. And they did provide a BMW loaner for the day though this was not a warranty issue. Sadly the car was totaled when I was hit by another driver months later. But in many BMW leases over the years the very few mostly routine service visits were completed within one to two days. Maybe luck, maybe good dealership, maybe they have their service system well implemented.

No it’s not.

More accurately: there are other auto manufacturers who are doing as poorly as Lucid. But it definitely is not like this throughout the industry. Plenty of companies have figured out the logistics of making repair parts available. Telling customers that they have to wait months for a windshield when they're putting them into new cars every day is a clear sign of who they're prioritizing. It's not like a windshield is an unusual part that doesn't normally fail and a logistics person could be legitimately surprised that repair centers will need a steady supply of them. Lucid is fumbling the basics with this one.

To add to this, usually its a one-off with other manufacturers. Lucid is just completely broken from top to bottom. This might be part of the "operational reset" plan though.

As far back as February, the Seattle service center was telling me they were getting broken roofs and interior parts all the time as well. They didn't indicate if it was from a supplier or internal though. I've had 3 roofs on my car so far.

Wow... the lack of a loaner is baffling. Must be a regional thing, but it shouldn't be. I just brought my Air in for service last Thursday. I didn't think the service would take very long, but the service advisor immediately said "We'll be in touch with the status. So what loaner do you prefer? An Air or a Gravity?"

I hadn't even asked for one.
