Trick to Parking in Tight Garages (Without Toggling Settings Every Time)

Settings: Drive Mode: Smooth | Hold: ON | Creep: ON

The Realization: You don't need to turn Hold OFF to park smoothly! Lucid lets Hold take priority in traffic, keeping Creep on standby.

The Home Garage Parking Routine:
  1. Pull up to your garage and let the car come to a full stop in Hold.
  2. Give the accelerator a single light tap to disengage Hold and hand control to Creep.
  3. Never touch the accelerator again. Modulate exclusively using the brake pedal to inch forward or reverse—the friction brakes won't clamp shut again as long as you only use the brake pedal.
    Even if you switch back and forth between forward and reverse during the parking maneuver, the car stays in Creep allowing you to inch forwards and backwards as needed... as long as you never touch the accelerator pedal. Only use the Brake Pedal during maneuvering at all times.
  4. When later exiting the garage: Put the car in gear (forward or reverse as needed) give light tap on the accelerator to disengage Hold and hand control to Creep. Then on use the brake pedal to inch out of the garage

Or just turn off hold (roll mode) and don't use creep, so you can control the exact speed and timing of moving and braking.
Works for me anyway .

A useful Enhancement request to Lucid would be to provide a driver settable "Creep Delay" in the Creep setting UX to delay the movement of the car after the accelerator tap to allow time for the driver to move the right foot to the brake pedal, so that the driver can use the right foot exclusively at all times.
This might work well on a flat surface, but if you live somewhere where almost every surface has a slope, the Lucid creep feature is dangerously bad because it doesn't prevent the car rolling backwards when you take your foot off the brake while trying to go forwards (or vice-versa in reverse). I tried using the creep the first day I had the car, it scared me so badly that I turned it off and never used it again. All modern ICE automatics have a "hill-hold" feature to prevent this same issue, it's something Lucid should also adopt.
 
It does have hill-hold on an incline if steep enough given you have brought it to a full stop on the brake first. Otherwise it rolls like a manual transmission car in neutral...

The hill hold works great as long as the creep isn't engaged - engaging creep disables the hill hold (or it did when I first got the car, perhaps now fixed, but I haven't had the nerve to try it again).

I find the Hold mode very useful in normal driving, specially when I have to stop the car on an incline. For instance at a traffic light on an incline. When the car comes to a standstill, the friction “Hold” brake engages and keeps the car stationary in place until I start accelerating again from there. The Roll mode doesn’t work in that situation, unless I use the break pedal (like with a manual shift gas car with a clutch).

The problem for me was when I then try to park the car in my very constrained garage at home, during the slow maneuvering of the car in to the garage, if and when the car comes to a standstill, Hold engages and in moving the car out from that hold, causes undesirable lurches inside the constrained garage space. The answer is to disengage the Hold and engage Creep and from then on simply use feather braking to make the car inch smoothly for parking. And disengaging Hold and engaging Creep is exactly what the car does when you tap on the brake when it is on Hold. Once Creep is engaged, it stays in Creep (and Hold remains disengaged) while you are inching using feather breaking. The Key is to not use the accelerator at all throughout maneuvering the car with feather breaking to complete parking.

Setting both Hold and Creep ON is a “set once and forget” and never having to switch them ever again in normal driving as well as garage parking. This is accomplished by disengaging Hold and engaging Creep while garage parking as described above.

For me this works very well and I feel what I am describing seems to be the intent of the design of Hold/Creep of Lucid Air.

In fact I was feeling the same when I first started driving my Air Touring (I am a brand new owner, just bought my 2026 Air Touring a couple of weeks ago). What I subsequently learned was that I was not tapping the accelerator hard enough, that the Creep never got engaged along with its significant torque to move the car in the direction I want, even on an incline. Later on I learned to tap the accelerator pedal hard enough to properly engage Creep (and in my case simultaneously disengage the Hold)

As I wrote in my reply to doubleTwist, what I describeed works very well for me.

This has been my experience as well. In my case, I normally don’t use the brake pedal at all, and let the regenerative braking bring the car to a full stop and let the Hold get engaged to keep the car firmly stationary. Yes, Lucid Air “Hold” acts like a hill-hold.

As I described in my original message, I always have Hold: ON and Creep: ON in settings (Set once and Forget). In normal road driving, I never do anything to engage Creep. Meaning in normal driving, I don’t tap the accelerator to engage Creep. Since I have set Creep ON in settings, it seems to stay dormant during normal driving. I then purposely engage Creep by tapping the accelerator when I come to a stop in front of my garage, to be used in maneuvering the car in to the garage using only the brake pedal (and not press the accelerator pedal any more during parking). Creep stays engaged (with sufficient torque) regardless of fully stopped, forward gear or reverse gear, allowing me to inch using break pedal feathering.

Yes, engaging Creep does disable Hold, which I believe is as designed. I effectively use that feature in my garage parking routine.
 
The problem is that creep doesn't have sufficient torque to overcome the slope; the approach to one of my garages is on a slope, so when I try backing into the tight space and take my foot off the "gas" the car immediately starts rolling forward down the slope. My ICE automatic does not do this. The obvious fix for this is that when creep is engaged, the car should apply the hold the instant it starts rolling in the opposite direction to the way you have the "gear" engaged i.e., if you are in reverse it should not be allowed to roll forward and if you are in drive, it should not be allowed to roll backwards. It is possible that this fix has already been implemented, but (after almost crashing the car the first day I had it), I have not had the desire to try creep again.

For others it's various other combinations of those settings. Choose what works best for you.

Agree, wholeheartedly. In my situation, in and around my garage is fairly flat and my Hold: ON, Creep: ON works very well. What prompted me to post my original message was when I asked Gemini (Google's LLM/GPT) it gave me the generic answer that tries to mimic an ICE (seems inspired by how Tesla is designed). And completely overlooked the more thoughtful (my opinion) design of Lucid that gives the great flexibility as doubletwist said.

My overall goal is to always be a "single foot" driver, fully rely on regenerative braking, and avoid having to fiddle with drive settings (set once and forget) for both road driving as well as garage parking. It just so happened that my "fairly flat" garage environment afforded me to set and forget "Hold: ON & Creep: ON" configuration.
