Kim Java - Preview Gravity?

I like the Equinox and Lyriq lines, the FWD models are actually pretty efficient. They need to start moving their 800v stuff down to higher-end versions of these models IMO.
I had an Equinox EV FWD. It was a solid little SUV and more energy efficient than our Model Y. Just FYI - Lyriq is RWD biased, not FWD. 2025 Optiq is FWD biased. 2026 - 27 Optiq are RWD biased. Chevy Blazer had options for both RWD and FWD bias but I think they recently canceled the FWD biased option. So that leaves Equinox EV and Bolt as the only FWD biased GM EVs.

What we need to really hit this home with a hammer is what I have, my 800HP 7 seater SUV costs less to drive and run than my 2014 Honda CR-V....Instead of comparing to apples like an Escalade NO-IQ...:)
As much as it's fun to use the horsepower argument, the kind of people shopping for a 7-seat SUV are more likely to prioritize how it fits in with their family. And someone like Kim Java seems like one of the best people to deliver that message

I would personally at least get one car that is capable of FSD for days when I don't want to drive, and one car that you just absolutely love to drive.
Problem is, I want one car that does both. And Tesla is not it. If someone actually develops one of these (Lucid, BMW, Volvo, Mercedes) it will be a game changer.

Don't forget about GM. 2028 Cadillacs will have eyes-off autonomous.

Fool me once...

Been there, done that. Lots of talk, very little demonstrable product.

Test vehicles are all over the road in the Detroit area. I've also been told by people in Florida and California that they have seen them too. Unlike most test or prototype vehicles, GM is very transparent about what these vehicles are and what they are doing. I can't get through a full week without seeing at least one or two of them.

The last one I saw was actually RHD which opens a whole new can of worms.

Every time I look at a GM made EV it just shows me how far behind they are on engineering. They just make these big ass boats and shove ridiculous size batteries in them to make them go further. The cars are nice but I doubt they’re making any money off their EV’s with putting large batteries in them like that. Imagine charging that thing from low SOC to 100% on a roadtrip? You’d have time for dinner and a nap!

The big GM EVs are great road trippers. Super spacious and comfortable, massive range and they have fast charging (350+ kW). I drove my Sierra Denali EV fully loaded with heavy gear, and my wife and three sons, from Sequoia National Park to South Bay LA yesterday and had 50% charge remaining when we pulled into the driveway.

Yes, they are big and inefficient and the software is nowhere near Tesla or Rivian, but my experience is they get even more mileage per charge than advertised. The software isn't bad, it's just simple. It's significantly more snappy, stable and reliable than Lucid's software. Guess how many Spotify issues I've had with my truck in two years of ownership? Guess how many key fob / entry issues? Yeah, zero.

If it were 100% up to me, we would replace our GGT with an Escalade IQL. But the Gravity is my wife's daily driver and she isn't confident driving large vehicles. However, she is starting to come around on the idea while we continue waiting for Lucid to finish fixing all of the delivery issues present on our Gravity, delivered 3/31.

One serious strike against GM is their EV service is bad too. Not Lucid awful, but still pretty bad.

I hope she is not getting paid to only say good things about Gravity . Tesla FSD is great , I hope Lucid and Rivian catchup Tesla soon
Uh, she has been a devoted Tesla owner for many years. Thats kind of the point, that she chose a nonTesla vehicle and it was a Gravity.

And it is only 50 seconds so fits right into a standard media spot. Brilliant Kim Java 👍
I actually think her Gravity videos alone will begin to reshape the brand and image for the company. Lucid needs more of this kind of positive identity building.

Look at it this way... How many of us have had this conversation more than a dozen times?

Rando: Wow! Cool car! What is it?
Me: It's a Lucid Air Grand Touring
Rando: Wow. Lucid...who makes it?
Me: Lucid
Rando: Who are they?

Kim Java's channel is viewed by millions. If nothing else those millions will get a good introduction to the brand. That is priceless marketing. And for those who are familiar with the brand, any positive comparisons to Tesla, where Kim is often seen, right or wrong, as the ultimate brand shill, can move the consideration needle way more than most experienced marketing departments with millions of corporate dollars behind them. It would be like getting Michael Jordan to wear Adidas.

I have. It actually handles turns better than my dedicated sports car (BMW M240) and can blast out of it much quicker. I really enjoy driving it. I'm sorry you don't feel the same way, but hey, this is why we have options. FSD is good enough that I let it do its own thing. I'm never really stressed using it, but completely understand how one may feel otherwise.
I never drove the performance model, just the regular ones. Model 3 is not bad but Model Y was much worse than I expected.

for the price the Y is fine, FSD being the best part, the suspension stinks imo, the pick up is great for that price point, the minimalist interior is functional but confusing for non-techies like my wife, the worst part is the car's Musk

When you say "not bad" and "was much worse..." are you talking about the vehicles in total or specifically FSD? If FSD, do you have knowledge of the update vintage of FSD that was on the vehicle? FSD versions pre-14.2.x can be straight trash. Our Y is on 14.3.7 and is actually very very good.

While it's tempting to assume that Model Y = Model Y = Model Y, that is far from the truth. Tesla's record of making small and large changes without announcement or model year change is incredible. Big changes were made in 2022, 2023, and 2025. Ours is a late 2023 and it is actually a very nice car. Not sure I'd feel the same about it if it was an early 2022.

Nice review of the important changes made to Model Y over the years

September brings a widening of the price gap to GGT, now +$20k. 2026 discounts were leading news, for those of us recently shopping, but now 2027s have started with a $5k credit only on Touring's 79k MSRP. That's the car I believe Kim can help sell (despite having GGT). I don't think many dispute its third row option is about the best you can get.

I agree. The risk would be the 2M viewers exposure if she ends up having problems with the car.

True dat. But personally I wouldn't want to be involved with a company that didn't have the capability of accurately assessing and mitigating those risks or the cajones to put up or shut up.

I'm guessing she'll be fine... because my car has been fine.
Also, she doesn't seem to be the type to go looking for problems and then shrilly harp on them.

That's true, her videos usually portrait positive aspects of whatever they cover. I don't see them pulling some raw criticism like OOS or EE did.
